Publisher's summary

#1 New York Times bestselling author Johanna Lindsey returns to the dazzlingly passionate world of the Malorys, an aristocratic family of rakehell adventurers and spirited ladies, in a thrilling new tale of unbridled desires.

James Malory sets sail for America to honor a promise he made to his in-laws: His daughter, Jacqueline, will have her come-out in America. Judith and Jacqueline Malory are not simply cousins; they are inseparable best friends. Refusing to miss Jacqueline's come-out in Connecticut, Judith convinces her parents to let her delay her London debut by a few weeks so she can accompany her cousin. Neither girl intends to fall in love during her first season, but Judith's plans are overturned when aboard ship she comes face-to-face with the ghost who has been haunting her dreams.

Unknown to the Malorys, deckhand Nathan Tremayne is a smuggler with a noose around his neck. Determined to carry out a covert mission in America that could gain him a pardon, Nathan senses that beautiful Judith Malory is trouble. Somehow the minx knows his secret - and now she's blackmailing him into doing her bidding. While passions can soar on the high seas, Nathan knows this aristocratic beauty is merely amusing herself with a scoundrel like him.

When the unthinkable happens in Connecticut, and the elder Malorys' hands are tied, Nathan takes command of a dire situation. Captaining his own ship, he turns the tables on Judith as he steers them into some intense Caribbean heat, where he will fight with all his mettle to win the right to her heart.

Loved the Old Lindsey, her new stuff ... yawn

What would have made Stormy Persuasion better?

I hate the new story formula of I see you, I fall instantly in love, I have sex with you, and flirt with you, and you are a criminal, but who cares, you are sexy, so let's jump in bed despite very little interaction, with most of the story of who is avoiding who, so not building attraction, rather, lust at first sight. oh yeah, let's through in a little of a story.

Would you ever listen to anything by Johanna Lindsey again?

I loved the books from the 90s that coined the term, "everyone loves a Lindsey." If those books, like Once a Princess or any of the Viking stories were on audible, I'd by them in an instant.

Which scene was your favorite?

none - it was all so flirt, sex, flirt, sex, without any real story line despite the very rich characters already in the story like, George, Tony, etc.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Stormy Persuasion?

way too much a story based on the modern day version of casual sex flirt, flirt, he's hot, let's hook up. you already have great characters - Judith is a real disappointing character painted as a modern day, air head, slutty, casual sex character. that's not why I read historical romance

Any additional comments?

please go back to the formula that made me fall in love with Johanna Lindsey books. This is not it.

I miss the old Lindsay

I have been a fan of Johanna Lindsay books for over 25 years, but her newer novels in this series leave me feeling more frustrated than entertained. The plot points feel contrived and unrealistic, with characters making choices that make no sense based on who they are, so that particular plot points can happen. If I'm too busy scoffing at the character's reaction or choice to remain invested in the story, then there is a problem. I pushed through the last few books in this series because I fell in love with the Malory family many years ago, and it made me sad to find I was having to make myself finish the books rather than eagerly enjoying them. They have become far-fetched and predictable, and I miss the old Johanna Lindsey!

Not a worthy Malory novel

I love the Malory books, and have read Gentle Rogue, and the Magic of you several times. I wanted Judith's story to be good but its not I have been listening for weeks and cant get through the book.

Not my favorite of the series

This was my least favorite book of the series. I did not care for the relationship development between Judith and Nathan. The location of the intimate moments they shared were unrealistic. I wish the author had provided more character development for Judy and Jack through the years with a previous book instead of fast forwarding from adolescence to 18 years of age.

As always I Love Lindsey's Mallory-Anderson series

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, I like that Ms Lindsey is continuing the Mallory/Anderson saga with the Anthony's daughter, I hope Ms Lindsey is working on Jack's story.

What other book might you compare Stormy Persuasion to and why?

If I'm recalling correctly it's like James's Story (A Gentle Feuding). With a sea voyage, an unknown enemy and a kidnapping

Have you listened to any of Laural Merlington’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, she has a smooth flow and I enjoy her style. Ms Merlington is one of my favorite narrators

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

This is a hard one, but what I enjoyed is the fact that held his own against the Mallory's.In and out of the ring. But mostly I liked Jack and Judy grown up.

Any additional comments?

Please Ms Lindsey I would like to know what happened to the 'bastard' and Andrew? Who will Jacqueline drag kicking and screaming to the alter?

Tired of the whining from main character.

She got on my nerves everytime she opened her mouth nor did she have common sense like her cousin Jacqueline. Narrator did a great job though!

Love Malory-Anderson series

I enjoyed Stormy Persuasion about Anthony’s daughter Judy. I was also glad other members of the family were included. I liked the humor and the mystery kept my interest. Also, Laural Merlington was excellent!

Fun easy read

Would you listen to Stormy Persuasion again? Why?

I would listen to this book again as it is fun easy listen.

What other book might you compare Stormy Persuasion to, and why?

Very much in the same vein as the other Malory books if you enjoyed those then chances are you will enjoy this one too.

Did Laural Merlington do a good job differentiating each of the characters? How?

She is an odd choice of narrator for this book as all of the main characters and most of the other characters are English, and as she is an American and her English accent is not very convincing, and therefore it feels a little out of place.

Any additional comments?

Liked the book, very fun and unchallenging this book is good if you want a light, beach read type of book. If you have read other Malory books then lots of previous characters show up which is nice, although I woul say you need to have read the previous books to enjoy this one.
