Publisher's Summary

Fresh pasta isn’t the only specialty that takes extra time...

The extra time and expense of Julie Elliot’s old-school cooking methods are worth it, but that means The Pasta Junction’s bottom line is often stretched thin - much like herself. Even during the holidays, the restaurant’s busiest season.

When she carves out time in her brutal schedule to meet with Bloomingfield weatherman Lorenzo Rossi, she crushes her reaction to the tall, blue-eyed charmer quicker and harder than a clove of roasted garlic. Lorenzo may be sweet as Italian cassata and hot as a red pepper, but planning an anniversary dinner means married, and she needs another disaster like that like she needs another olive oil stain on her shirt.

But as she and Lorenzo assemble the ingredients for a perfect celebration, she discovers something completely unexpected. And her heart may not withstand the storm of emotion she never saw coming.

Some recipes don’t turn out quite as you predicted...

Great Read

A Chocolate-Box New Years (Chocolate-Box #2) was a great read by Josie Riviera. Julie runs The Pasta Junction and seems to be stretched thin. During the holidays, the restaurant is extremely busy, but she carves out time for the local weatherman Lorenzo. She is extremely attracted to him but he is planning an anniversary party and she knows he must be married. She discovers that everything isn't as it seems. I really enjoyed reading Julie and Lorenzo's story and can't wait to read more by Josie Riviera.

There's more to life than work.

This was an enjoyable story. It's a story about two people who were so engrossed in their careers. Only one realized that there was more to life. He just had to help Julie see that. Allyson Voller is one of my favorite narrators.

Short and Sweet

This was the first book for me to read/listen to by Josie Riviera. It was well written for a short story. It took time to appreciate the hero, but I liked the heroin from the beginning. A sweet HEA.

Allyson Voller is an excellent narrator. Her performance made this audio. I really like her voice. It's so easy to listen to for longer periods.

Short and sweet romance

I enjoyed this audiobook. It was a short and sweet insta love story with a man who expressed his love and adoration with passion. New love comes with getting to know each other and learning how to communicate. There was not much of a conflict in this story other than misunderstanding which was communicated and resolved quickly. I enjoyed the narrator and became engaged in the story. She did well with the characters and it was easy to follow along with the story line. I received this audiobook free and am providing an honest review.

Sweet, clean, and fun

A Chocolate-Box New Years is a sweet and clean romance. The storyline is fun and has a good pace, moving things along nicely. The characters are interesting and have great chemistry. I like the glimpses of characters from other books in this series (though it can definitely be read as a stand alone). The narrator gave a pleasant performance of the book.

It was a sweet New Year story

I’ve always admired hardworking people who prefer to present quality. I loved the story more that it talked about culture, family and overcoming past hurts.

Yummy Holiday Romance

This story had me at fresh homemade pasta. Julie is right and the dry kind just doesn’t compare. I don’t have it very often, but I love it when the restaurant I’m eating at offers it. Julie and Lorenzo had a whirlwind romance with misunderstandings, which started when she thought he was married and hitting on her. I loved reading about all the wonderful food she made. I’ve never had cassata, but is sounds yummy. I liked that they bonded over their love of film noir, something else that I’ve never truly experienced. There were plenty of funny, romantic, and sweet moments in this clean holiday food filled romance.

The narrator had a nice clear upbeat voice with voice changes in all the right places.

Happy story all the way.

What a wonderful and happy story. I normally don’t care for “misunderstandings” in books but I enjoyed this one. I had a smile on my face through almost the entire book. Nice characters and I loved the narration. I recommend this book.

Delicious!

I love a read that includes food! This gem introduces us to Julie, She is the chef at The Pasta Junction and lives by the old school of cooking. When Lorenzo books his parents' anniversary party, he asks for her specifically to appease his attraction to her. The one request he has is she bakes his mother's Italian Cassata and she must practice baking it prior to the party to make sure it is made correctly. And our love affair begins. Lorenzo is relentless in a sweet and wonderful way. He never gives up any chance to be with Julie. Julie is married to her restaurant, so while her attraction to this local weatherman is growing, she does not want to give in. It's sweet and fun and the food sounds so delicious! The best is the recipe at the end! I am going to give it a try.

Narrated by Allyson Voller, she bring this pair to life. I love her voice and she finds the nuances of each character and even adds a little accent in for Lorenzo. It's a wonderful, relaxing, happy listen.
