the change is jarring!

though I enjoy Luke Daniels as a narrator, in this instance his narration was disapointing. it isn't that Vykas Adams is a better narrator, but that the voices of the characters have been established over multiple novels and Luke's choices in voices don't even attempt to stay in the same mode as the previous stories. Vykas's oriental sounding voices were changed to southern twangs by Luke. British accents turned to French. Smooth, masterful voices turned harsh and craggy. these voices would have been fine if we weren't already used to significantly different ones. the dramatic shift in voice really causes a cognitive dissonance that detracts from listening enjoyment.

For those confused about the change in narrators

Yes, the narrator has changed. Vikas adams schedule was too busy to continue allowing him to narrate for either Divine Dungeon or Completionist Chronicles. However, Dakota Krout in his infinite wisdom wrote an actual in lore reason to explain away the change in narrators. So for those who are complaining that "it doesn't sound the same" it's not meant to. Lore wise nothing is meant to sound "quite" the same. Luke Daniels is taking over for this and completionist chronicles. Do we judge him by his own performance or by the performance of vikas adams? I'd like to think we are mature enough to judge him first by his own performance when rating, and then in the review we could give our impression as to how he compares to Vikas Adams. But irregardless as i said before, he's not meant to sound the same. The first paragraph of Eternium has the "in lore" reason why everything sounds different now. Give it a listen and you'll be impressed by how farsighted an author can be in event they know they are going to have to change narrators for their audiobooks. There's a reason in both Eternium and in Raze if you're looking closely enough to find it. When i finally found it in both i was ready to flip a table due to how subtle it was, blink and you can miss it.

Laughed, worried and felt part of the Story!

Such a great book! Laughed, worried, and felt like I was part of the story! This is one of the best compliments I can give a story. I am sorry to see this series ending..!

LUKE DANIELS is one of the very best narrators in the business and having him take over, was the very best solution to a otherwise difficult situation. I know the author has talked about the previous NARRATOR not being able to continue doing the voice over for some reason, which of course is unfortunate.

BUT man LUKE DANIELS does a wonderful job taking over, and bringing the characters to life!

Can't wait for More

First and foremost this book is great. If you have listened the the 4 books before this then make sure you listen to this one. If you have not listened to the 4 previous books in the Divine Dungeon series then you have 40 envious hours to look forward to before starting this one.

For those that don't want to listen to book 5 because of the change of narrators, that is not a good reason because 1. Luke Daniels is a great narrator, and 2. Dakota's other books have the same (cough cough) narrator as well.

I am excited to delve deeper in to this work and explore the plethora of side characters that Dakota has planned for both the Divine Dungeon and Completion Chronicles.

disappointed <revision > worth the credit

so I dont write many reviews, but I had to here. I throughly enjoyed this series up till this point. I could even finish the fifth chapter. I usually like Luke daniels but after hearing a different narrator for each character for the rest of the series it was just too much of a change. The book itself felt like it was dragging on and didnt feel like the first few books of the series. i tried and I couldn't continue listening.

so I decided to give this book another shot due to the author explaining the issue with the change in narrator.
I really still had a hard time with the difference in narration but the story ended up being very solid and the many twist in the second half of the book made you rethink the entire series. if you read or listen to the series then it worth wrapping it all up with this book. still couldn't give it 5 stars but 4 overall means it is credit worthy.
