Acerca de esta escucha

In this follow-up to #1 New York Times bestselling author Ruth Ware’s multi-million copy mega-hit The Woman in Cabin 10, Lo Blacklock returns to attend the opening of a luxury hotel, only to find herself in a white-knuckled race across Europe.

When the invitation to attend the press opening of a luxury Swiss hotel—owned by reclusive billionaire Marcus Leidmann—arrives, it’s like the answer to a prayer. Three years after the birth of her youngest child, Lo Blacklock is ready to reestablish her journalism career, but post-pandemic travel journalism is a very different landscape from the one she left ten years ago.

The chateau on the shores of Lake Geneva is everything Lo’s ever dreamed of, and she hopes she can snag an interview with Marcus. Unfortunately, he proves to be even more difficult to pin down than his reputation suggests. When Lo gets a late-night call asking her to come to Marcus’s hotel room, she agrees despite her own misgivings. She’s greeted, however, by a woman claiming to be Marcus’s mistress, and in life-or-death jeopardy.

What follows is a thrilling cat-and-mouse pursuit across Europe, forcing Lo to ask herself just how much she’s willing to sacrifice to save this woman…and if she can even trust her?©2025 Ruth Ware (P)2025 Simon & Schuster Audio

I love the connection to “The Woman In Cabin 10” I love Ruth Ware’s writing and the narration by Imogene Church. Can’t wait for the next one!

I want to start with…. Imogen Church has always been a fave narrator for me. I love the huskiness of her voice. But I was stunned when it came to the American accents. I couldn’t believe it. Did I miss where the accents were supposed to be bad? I just have so many questions. The story was good, but that’s definitely what was grinding my gears the whole time. Judah from Brooklyn lololol

Does Imogen Dislike Americans?

I dont understand why one of the biggest British thriller writers tends to write her heroines as gullible, moronic, idiotic women who lack even a shred of common sense. It made me not want to root for this heroine and worse still to believe that any tragedy she encompassed was brought on entirely of her own accord, basically deserving the bad things that happen to her. I dislike feeling that way about someone I'm supposed to be on side with. Unless, of course, that is the point. Maybe dont waste a credit. I ADORE Ruth Ware which is why I did.

Imogen Church's Impeccable Narration

I will always be a fan of Ruth Ware, of course I will. However this book just didn’t hit home for me. ‘The Woman In Cabin 10’ was my first Ruth Ware book and I never felt I needed more. It was a great book but I never felt the story needed to go on. This book lacked a lot of Ruth’s usual mystery and thrill and was a little bit thin. I would however listen to Imogene read the phone book so all in all I got through the book. It was fine. But it wasn’t her best. Can’t win ‘em all.

It was fine … I will always be a fan of Ruth aware

I couldn’t stop listening to the story, smiling, frowning and feeling all the feels in this amazingly written and clever follow up story. I love the characters and all the little but big twists and was sad when the story ended. Must read

Was amazingly done. My favorite.

I enjoyed this, and finished it in two days. I didn’t find Laura to be absurdly naive, but compassionate and conflicted. I ask those who are constantly annoyed with fictional characters: if characters didn’t make poor decisions what would drive a thriller?
I enjoyed the hotels, and the Eurostar. Character development was very good. This was not my favorite Ruth Ware novel (that’s “In a Dark, Dark Wood), n’or is this near the bottom of the list. It has motivated me to revisit, “The Woman in Cabin 10,” which I haven’t listened to in years, and is my second favorite of Ruth Ware’s novels. I hope we get another romp with Laura and Kerry in the future.
I am a big fan of Imogen Church. She uniquely embodies each character, does males voices, and a variety of accents, very well. Some people complain that she over acts; at times she does; but I prefer a bit of overacting to a bland reading, and indistinguishable characters. I do agree that the little boys got annoying; but Imogen’s interpretation of them made me laugh.

Fun, With Fabulous Locations

Nice segue from 10 to 11. The writing is sharp, intense and the plot is captivating. Character development is strong and intriguing. I couldn’t wait to see what was going to happen next. Just know that there is no pause button on this roller coaster. One twisty turn after another. Loved listening to this one!

Imogen is so talented and gifted as a narrator. It’s easy to get lost in the characters as she gives them all their own unique voice and even accents. She fully brings RW’s words to life!!

So Good!!!

This was a solid, well written mystery. As usual, Imogene Church can’t be beat as a narrator. My only tiny bit of a negative critique is I was wishing it was a touch more eerie. Ruth Ware does excellent eerie books, but this one was not one of them. But still, it was wonderful.

I Loved It!

I made it half way through and found this not only implausible but ridiculous. A grown woman of her intelligence could not be this stupid and gullible. I love Ruth Ware but this feels like a clutching at straws kind of story to ride on the success of Woman in Cabin 10. It’s fine but definitely not her best. I found it dragged and also because of the ridiculousness of the stupidity of Lo - too many things had to go just right and it wasn’t believable. Eh.

Is Lo really that dumb?

The narration really annoyed me. It was just way too extra to say the least. Almost made the story comedic. The little boys voices made me want to stop listening. My eyes rolled back in my head so many times I can’t count. It was just too theatrical and almost silly.
I’ve listened to every Ruth Ware book out there and I know I’ve heard this narrator many times but she just was over the top for me this time.

Annoying narration
