Was good overall but I feel like I’ve read the same book before. This one had more twists but I zoned out a bit because of the deja vu!

She’s done it again!!

A master of mystery and intrigue, with heart and soul. As usual, Stacy Willingham kept me guessing until the end - I loved the twists and the element of danger and the eerie connections to the past!

Not that twisty and a bit slow sometimes. Ending was bittersweet and satisfying. Narrator was great.

There’s nothing better than finding out what you’re supposed to when the author plans for it! It’s one of my favorite feelings. The twists keep coming in this one!

The right amount of complication

This was a really good story. I usually work out the details far quicker than most and I wish some stories would keep me guessing. This one added tension right when I needed it. She layered the mystery just perfectly. I would think I was figuring things out and then a new wrinkle would be introduced. Well done. I enjoyed this book and only wish it was longer.

A long and winding road

The story was good I theory but the writing was the main focus. Flowery and overly descriptive with not enough plot development. The end was good.

The Main Character is Soooooo Clueless

For someone who is an investigative journalist, she is incredibly slow to put things together, let alone understand the dangerous situations she repeatedly and intentionally puts herself in. It was hard to believe- just the same obliviousness over and over and over again. The overall story was interesting, but the prose was trying SO HARD.
Narrators were very good, though!

Wow!

This book was absolutely incredible. The story pulled me in right from the start and kept me hooked all the way through. In some ways, it almost reminded me of the Manson family…not because it was copied, but because it captured that same unsettling, fascinating energy from beginning to end. The writing was sharp, the pacing never dragged, and the atmosphere the author created was unforgettable. This author is truly talented, and I can’t wait to read more of their work. Loved!

Kept me guessing!

Fantastic book that kept me on the edge of my seat! Loved that it wasn’t overly explicit and I could listen with family around.

Not my favorite

I love Stacy Willingham's books. I will pre-order every one. But I could not stand this one. Im not sure if it was the cluelessness of the main character or the narrators voice. I found myself yelling at the character. It was way too slow for me.
