#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

A MOST ANTICIPATED SUMMER READ from People, USA TODAY, theSkimm, E! News, Forbes, New York Post, CrimeReads, and many more!

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Lisa Jewell, three women are connected by one man in this kaleidoscopic thriller.

Hes the perfect man. Its a perfect lie.

Nina Swann is intrigued when she received a condolence card from Nick Radcliffe, an old friend of her late husband, who is looking to connect after her husband’s unexpected death. Nick is a man of substance and good taste. He has a smile that could melt the coldest heart and a knack for putting others at ease. But to Nina’s adult daughter, Ash, Nick seems too slick, too polished, too good to be true. Without telling her mother, Ash begins digging into Nick’s past. What she finds is more than unsettling…

Martha is a florist living in a neighboring town with her infant daughter and her devoted husband, Alistair. But lately, Alistair has been traveling more and more frequently for work, disappearing for days at a time. When Martha questions him about his frequent absences, he always has a legitimate explanation, but Martha can’t share the feeling that something isn’t right.

Nina, Martha, and Ash are on a collision course with a shocking truth that is far darker than anyone could have imagined. And all three are about to wish they had heeded the same warning: Don’t let him in. But the past won’t stay buried forever.©2025 Lisa Jewell (P)2025 Simon & Schuster Audio

Editorial Review

A puzzle worth solving...
Lisa Jewell’s Don’t Let Him In ensnared me from the beginning. From the character interactions that made me want to pull out my hair in frustration to the genuine a-ha moments when things began to click, I was hooked. Following recent widow Nina, mourning daughter Ash, and neglected wife and mom Martha, Don’t Let Him In explores the complexities of these women's relationship with a man that turns out very wrong. Not only do they learn they shouldn't have let him in, it might be too late to avoid what may come crashing down on them. I had almost visceral reactions to the lies told, stories believed, actions ignored. And to put a cherry on top of these well-developed characters, Don't Let Him In is a multi-cast listen performed by top-notch talents like Richard Armitage, Joanne Froggatt, Tamaryn Payne, Gemma Whelan, Louise Brealey, and Patience Tomlinson. —Nicole R., Audible Editor

Great narration but the story fell flat for me. I don’t know if it was because there were so many characters, but the character development was absolutely not what I’m used to with Lisa Jewell. Everything felt very superficial. Disappointing because it’s stupid how often I check back to see when her next book is available.

Solid Meh

Twists and turns and read incredibly well. Lisa Jewel is a wonderful novelist! Highly recommend her if you’ve not listened to her books before.

Not a lot of twists, and sometimes the story dragged. I prefer her other books.

Not my favorite LJ book

If you like documentaries like Dirty John, the Tinder Swindler, or other con-artists, you will like this one. Jewell is one of my favorite authors, this is not my favorite by her but was a great book! Highly recommend

As a fan of Lisa Jewell, I always anticipate a deliciously twisty, edgy psychological thriller that I can't put down. Who doesn't? Her name is synonymous with intricate plots and characters who are never what they seem. However, while her latest foray into the dark side of human nature, "Don't Let Him In," has its chilling moments, it ultimately fell slightly flat for me.
The novel delves deep into the mind of a meticulous and chilling sociopath, employing Jewell's signature shifting timelines that jump around as frequently as our antagonist switches wives and girlfriends. The structure is ambitious, attempting to build a comprehensive portrait of a predator by showing his patterns through the years. Yet, where this technique usually builds suspense, here it contributed to a sense of fatigue. I found myself worn out by the slow and steady pace inside the sociopath's head; the journey, while unsettling, became more laborious than thrilling.
This weariness was compounded by the irritating naivete of his female victims. While a certain suspension of disbelief is required in the genre, the repeated lack of suspicion from a string of women felt frustratingly implausible. Instead of fearing for them, I grew exasperated with them, which pulled me out of the story's grip.

Ultimately, "Don't Let Him In" is a slow burn in every sense of the word. It succeeds in creating a palpable sense of unease and certainly leaves an impression. It’s the kind of read that leaves you with a lingering "ick" feeling—the type that makes you want to take a long, hot salt bath with cleansing essential oils just to wash the story away. For some, this deep, disquieting dive will be a triumph of atmospheric tension. For me, it was a journey I was more than ready to end.

There was not that a lot that I disliked about this book, but I loved the way it skipped around, but kept me understanding where we were in time! And I also love that he got his in the end

The story line kept me guessing

There should be a prequel to find out why Simon is such an empty hole narc who love hates women. The story keeps you interested, excellent narrators, though some parts were a bit far fetched and predictable, overall a good story that would make a decent lifetime mini series.
