INSTANT #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Lisa Jewell, three women are connected by one man in this “gripping, shocking, masterful” (Freida McFadden, #1 New York Times bestselling author) thriller.

He’s the perfect man. It’s a perfect lie.

Nick Radcliffe is a man of substance and good taste. He’s exactly what newly widowed Nina Swann needs in her life. But to Nina’s adult daughter, Ash, Nick seems too slick, too polished, too good to be true. When Ash begins digging into his past, she finds a trail of unsettling coincidences.

Martha lives in a neighboring town with her infant daughter and devoted husband Alistair. But lately, Alistair has been traveling more and more frequently for work, disappearing for days at a time, and Martha can’t shake the feeling that something isn’t right.

Nina, Martha, and Ash have no idea they are on a collision course with a shocking truth. And all three are about to wish they had heeded the same warning: Don’t let him in.

Editorial Review

A puzzle worth solving...
Lisa Jewell’s Don’t Let Him In ensnared me from the beginning. From the character interactions that made me want to pull out my hair in frustration to the genuine a-ha moments when things began to click, I was hooked. Following recent widow Nina, mourning daughter Ash, and neglected wife and mom Martha, Don’t Let Him In explores the complexities of these women's relationship with a man that turns out very wrong. Not only do they learn they shouldn't have let him in, it might be too late to avoid what may come crashing down on them. I had almost visceral reactions to the lies told, stories believed, actions ignored. And to put a cherry on top of these well-developed characters, Don't Let Him In is a multi-cast listen performed by top-notch talents like Richard Armitage, Joanne Froggatt, Tamaryn Payne, Gemma Whelan, Louise Brealey, and Patience Tomlinson. —Nicole R., Audible Editor

It was a good storyline but hard to keep track of the characters as they jumped back and forth between different years. Which made it quite confusing. I kept rewinding and listening again, trying to figure out who it was and where the story was at. She threw in some gender dysphoria. Not every story needs to have this subject and it made no sense as it really was not part of the story. It felt like she just threw it in because she felt like it needed to be in there or something who knows. I’ve liked her other books, but this one is not at the top of my list. I really did enjoy the narrators though. They did a great job.

Too confusing

If you compare this to some of her other books this might not be the most suspenseful . But this is an excellent portrayal of a narcissist and how his mind work. If you’ve been lucky enough to not experience a narcissist in your life it could feel far fetched and the women dumb for falling for lies and deception but when you are involved with one it’s like you are caught in a spiral you can’t get out of. I appreciated this book for showcasing this to a certain extent.

It’s a good book

Not my favorite Lisa Jewell. So many characters and “all over the place” narrative. I’m a huge fan however this was just a meh for me.

Narration was excellent.

The book was hard to listen through. While the performance of the narrators was good. The entire story was unbelievable. I tend to think women are more intelligent than presented by this author. Also, the actions of the main character , escaping death in the ocean, is unbelievable.

Not very believable

This audiobook is a well-crafted, expertly performed crime and horror thriller. But in my opinion it is too long and has more characters than it needs, and I found it dispiriting rather than exciting. The performers are all excellent, especially Richard Armitage, who is wonderfully creepy. Recommended for horror fans.
