Set in the world of the gods first introduced in Divine Rivals, #1 New York Times bestselling author Rebecca Ross delivers a sweeping, beautiful adult novel filled with tension, romance, and dark secrets.

This audiobook features multicast narration, plus a captivating scene from an early draft of Wild Reverence read by the author, accompanied by an exclusive interview exploring her creative journey writing the book.

True love is more divine than any ruthless god.

Born in the firelit domain of the under realm, Matilda is the youngest goddess of her clan, blessed with humble messenger magic. But in a land where gods often kill each other to steal power and alliances break as quickly as they are forged, Matilda must come of age sooner than most. She may be known to carry words and letters through the realms, but she holds a secret she must hide from even her dearest of allies to ensure her survival. And to complicate matters . . . there is a mortal boy who dreams of her, despite the fact they have never met in the waking world.

Ten years ago, Vincent of Beckett wrote to Matilda on the darkest night of his life—begging the goddess he befriended in dreams to help him. When his request went unanswered, Vincent moved on, becoming the hardened, irreverent lord of the river who has long forgotten Matilda. That is, until she comes tumbling into his bedroom window with a letter for him.

As Fate would have it, Matilda and Vincent were destined to find each other beyond dreams. There may be a chance for Matilda to rewrite the blood-soaked ways of the gods, but at immense sacrifice. She will have to face something she fears even more than losing her magic: to be vulnerable, and to allow herself to finally be loved.

Beautiful, dreamy, magical... I wasn't even planning to read it this year but boy am I glad I did 🙌🏻 I really loved it.

My favorite of the year

I really admire Rebecca Ross as an author! Her stories always have elements that really drive home the mood. In Divine Rivals, it was the setting/time period (like you were dropped into a fantasy WW1 right at the moment when technology started really blooming).

Wild Reverence was unique because we got such an intimate perspective in a story that was built to read like an ancient myth. The whimsy of a character borrowing magic for sunrise to nightfall, or not being allowed to turn and glance behind. Those moments made the book for me. I also loved the familiarity of hearing a God's name and being like "omg I know them!!!" I loved Wild Reverence so much, and if you liked Divine Rivals, this one is certainly worth the listen/read!!

I absolutely loved the Divine Rivals duology, and was equally as excited for this story. Beautifully written, emotionally gripping, with excellent narration.

The narrators were great. Their voices conveyed the magical and heartbreak of the story
Rebecca Ross’s writing is always so beautiful. She has this amazing ways with words that sound so whimsical and profound that’s you just don’t want to stop reading. They way she describes the world your in, make you not only see it but feel it in your soul.
I have to admit at the beginning I was a little lost on what was going on and the magic and gods. But I always trust her process and obviously give authors time to explain and expand on their world building and plot.
The different gods were all interesting and yet cold and vindictive. They always do what’s best for them.
This story follow the god Matilda and the mortal Vincent who meet in their dream. The only part I had a little trouble with was how Matilda felt so comfortable with Vincent, and in love with him when she barely knew him. She wasn’t actually in his dreams, she only read about them. As far as Vincent it made sense. He had seen her almost every night in his dreams and fell in love with her.
I thought the back story of Vincent was heartbreaking and bland in turn led the the meat of the story.
Matilda’s story and magic was a little confusing but I understood for the most part.
All the side characters were great. They were well defined. Bade was my favorite. His relationship with Matilda and Adria was so touching.
I also love Nate , Vince’s brother.
If you like Rebecca Ross then you will like this book. Beware. It’s 600 pages so be prepared.

Pure Magic

Rebecca Ross has done it again. I was completely entranced, spellbound. I loved DV but WR is it's own masterpiece.

I wasn't sure what to expect since it's part of the Divine Rivals world but was happily surprised that it touches on some of the characters we learned about but a story all it's own. This is a beautiful story of love, magic, sacrifice and family.

The magic system is interesting, woven with some familiar lore but still unique. We learn about it's gods, the inner workings, motivations, lifestyles and manipulations.

The story between the FMC and MMC is explored before the main plot pops off. We get to see their first meeting and subsequent in interactions. We see their tether form in a pure, almost untainted setting. It was so sweet.

The side characters were engaging. Bade, oh Bade how I love you. Nathaniel was also a favorite as were Orphia and Rowena.

My one critique, I wish this was a planned duology so I could spend more time with Matilda, Vincent and their world and characters.

This book owned my heart from the first page until the last, tearing me open and glueing me back together - piece by painful piece, and I will never be the same.

Truly - this was one of my most anticipated reads for this year, and it was everything I’d hoped for and more! 5 stars is not nearly enough to express the depth of my love fortis story.

Rebecca Ross has crafted a deeply beautiful, poignant, heartfelt story of perseverance, of faithfulness in the face of hopelessness, and the enduring power of love.

Matilda and Vincent’s story ripped open my heart, and I cried and bled through Act 5, making my own deals with the gods that they would find their happy ending.

Learning the origin stories of the gods from the Letters of Enchantment duology - and the epilogue that tied the books together across time - was an amazing journey.

This is a must read for fans of the Letters of Enchantment duology!

4.25 stars.

Wild Reverence is a prequel taking place in the same universe as the Letters of Enchantment duology. Readers who enjoyed that series will love this new addition to the world. It’s not necessary to have read the duology prior to reading this, though I do believe it will enhance your reading. The story is about an immortal goddess Matilda, herald of the gods, and Vincent, a mortal Lord, and the way their lives continue to intersect over the years.

Rebecca Ross’ writing is so beautiful, and atmospheric. This book explores more of the mythology of the gods described in her duology. The beginning reads like folklore. I found this book takes the best of both Divine Rivals and Ruthless Vows. The setting and atmosphere feels more similar to RV, but the romance and yearning feels comparable to DR.

It’s romantic fantasy at its best, with a well fleshed out world and a love story that draws you in.

I found the first 30% of the book to be pretty slow-paced, but it picks up after that and keeps you hooked. I do think this book could have been a little shorter though, and doesn’t quite earn all its pages.

Overall, I really enjoyed this new addition to the Letters of Enchantment world and believe readers of romantasy will really enjoy this book.

Beautiful, atmospheric reading
