"I have to find Magpie!!!"

Did the author have a word count she needed to meet? The number of times Birdie expresses that she has to find Magpie (her sister) must have been about 100. There was a lot of other repetition as well. The ONLY reason I didn't ditch the book was because I've really liked White's previous books. Fortunately, at about 40 percent, things started to move along.

It was still a little too vague (everything surrounding "the procedure," and not enough world building) for me but as always, White nailed the vibe and character development. All of the characters were interesting (rare) and the ending leaves room for a sequel so maybe we'll see more of them! I liked it well enough that I would read a second book if this were the start of a series.
