“She looks like her shakespearean namesake”. Oh my goodness that line broke my heart. Alex’s chapters hurt my heart in the best way. You have to read this!

So glad I used a credit on this one bc it was perfection! Duet narration AND multiple accents? Say less. And now I will have to figure out what to do with myself until book 2 comes out 😭

⭐️ Loved This — So Atmospheric ⭐️

This book completely pulled me in. The atmosphere was rich and immersive, the kind of story that makes you want to stay in its world just a little longer. The love story was everything I wanted — full of yearning, great banter, and that slow-burn tension done just right.

I adored the university setting and the grumpy MMC who turned out to be a total secret golden retriever underneath it all. It struck the perfect balance between angst, warmth, and charm.

Definitely one I’ll be rereading. 💛

Just finished Nightshade by Autumn Woods on Audible and Holy Wowza!
5 star story & 5 star narrators. (yes, I ordered a shelf trophy...im just not waiting for it to post my review)
Only regret is devouring this before book 2 has even been announced 😭

This one's for the academic romance girlies who crave gothic vibes and emotionally complex characters. Set in a Scottish castle (yasssss), with a slow-burn romance and a murder mystery threading through like fog on the moor. Yes, I am swooning.

The MMC has mental health struggles, and it’s written in a way that feels real and human... not just tossed in for drama.
It’s rare to see it handled this well.
The FMC is sharp (yet soft) & absolutely hug-worthy. Honestly, I just want to wrap both of them in a blanket and make them tea & ramen.

It’s not super spicy. The tension is chef’s kiss. The dark undercurrent simmers beautifully beneath every chapter. And the narration is fanfreakingtastic. It elevated everything.

The only downside is the CLIFFHANGER. I wasn't emotionally prepared. The bonus chapter helps (a little), but I am not okay.

Book two, where are you?! Autumn Woods, please...I’m begging in the softest, most haunted garden of this castle... IDK if I can wait until 2026 😭

Overall: 4.5 ⭐️ This audiobook is done duet style and it’s pure PERFECTION! The accents made this book just that much better. I was immediately hooked and honestly could’ve read this book in one sitting. This book had all the dark elements I love in gothic romances. Ophelia goes to Sorrowsong University trying to figure out what happened to her parents. What she doesn’t know is that there’s someone there waiting for her. I’m a sucker for mystery and trying to figure out everything before the end. The stalker was really obvious and that’s the only reason this book isn’t 5⭐️s. But that twist in the end had me second guessing everything I thought I figured out😱 Then we have Alex who is just trying to take care of his mom and sisters. From their first encounter they’re drawn to each other. But once Ophelia figures out who Alex’s dad is she starts to push him away. But the invisible string keeps bringing them together and she finds everything she’s been missing in him. I loved the way they cared for each other and how they communicated in the cutest ways. Now after that cliffhanger I need the next book immediately!!!

I had fun with this one! Excited for sequel. Though I will say the reveal of the “villain” was eh… The male narrator… phew, need him to narrate more things!

i adored the story and the main characters are SO deeply relatable! i absolutely LOVED the swoon worthy romance and ugh when an author uses my ultimate weakness (he falls first and harder) against me, i can't help but love the book. it is completely well thought out and the setting of the book is a place ive always wanted to visit, and it felt as if i was really there, experiencing it first hand. i rarely write full length reviews but this book was so consuming that i had to sing my praises! well done autumn woods! my newest insta buy author!
