Audible narration was done by someone with a very annoying southern accent.
I wanted more science and statistics and cultural references like the book “Why we sleep” and less lecturing and opinion. But the content was fine. It sounds like it came from a physician.

Well written, amusing and filled with important health information. This a book for sharing with family and friends. I have had sleep issues from childhood and didn't know it.

Dr. Winter reads it himself. Such good info that I bought the paperback to reference later. He actually makes this informative book enjoyable emeith his humor. Good book!

I've read so many articles, blogs, and websites that claimed to have the answer to my sleep issues. Unfortunately most of this information is generic and doesn't take into account the myriad number of factors that could be causing sleep disturbances. Dr Winter dispels myths, presents facts and guides you through the process of discovering your particular personal issues. He has compiled a thorough, useful reference and reads it in a pleasant and engaging manner. While his voice won't put you to sleep, many of his methods just might!

Frustrated but Hopeful

As an insomniac I have read a few books on the topic and have been to a CBT-i therapist. The first few chapters of this book impressed me in that those go deeper into the actual thoughts of insomnia, he expands on what others only cover in a short paragraph. He keeps on repeating one thing that I don’t find helpful at all , he made me feel as if insomnia is not a big deal because “ no one dies from insomnia” , and “everyone will eventually fall asleep” and a “bad night sleep doesn’t mean a bad day the next day “. While I agree with all of those insomnia don’t kill me , and I will eventually fall asleep and ONE night might not make my next day miserable , many nights of sleeping only 3 to 4 hours or falling asleep for 20 mins in eve and not been able to sleep any more until 5 am etc etc will likely do affect ones mood and ability to work living one miserable and perhaps even unemployed I wish he explained this better. Also I wish the book went into more detail or at least tell you were to get more details on 1) getting off pills 2) he could be a bit more convincing about the harms of sleep aids 3) he can expand on how to do light therapy that he mentions and how to use the meds for that etc . The first few chapters make this book a great buy is not same old. CBTi books often only get into the behaviors ignoring the C of cognitive. ( one other thing he mentions at home sleep studies saying they don’t measure brain activity and only breathing , I was sent with one home and it did not measure breathing only measure brain activity and stages with glue on head, I assume the technologies have changed)
-do recommend buying - however don’t find him to truly show empathy of many underlaying concerns of an insomniac trying to sleep

While I can’t use everything from this book, I can use a good portion of it. For that reason, I think it’s a great tool if one is having trouble sleeping. I’ve been working on my sleep for a couple of years now, and this put the nail in my coffin so to speak. I sleep a lot better having read this book.

Over the past 15 months I have struggled with insomnia. My doctor prescribed Ambien. I didn’t want to get hook on it so I turned for a Natural sleep aids. I’ve tried every sleep aid and remedy you can think of. I went to therapy, sleep doctor and talk to a different internal medicine Doctor that wanted to put me on medication. None of these approaches worked for me so I continued to struggle with insomnia, until now!!!!

I’ve purchased dozens of books about sleep and sleep meditation. None of them helped me to fall a sleep and stay sleep. The Sleep Solution Book has just the right amount of humor, exercises, and it’s packed with tons of helpful content about sleep.

Most important, it works!!!!! I started listening to the audiobook and couldn’t stop, I’m glad I didn’t!!!!
Last night was the first night in 15 months that I slept over 8 hrs without using a sleep aid. Even when I use a sleep aid I sleep 5 - 6 hours. Last night, after finishing the The Sleep Solution Book I got immediate results, organic sleep!!!! Unfreaking believable!!!

I am now doing the 30 Day challenge!! I love to sleep and I am excited about sleeping again.
