Resumen del Editor

A lot of business books hold your hand, make you feel good, and are set to convince you that your passion and “unique” business idea are enough to plow through your competition, garner new leads, and make millions just because you can write a business plan that says so.

This is not that kind of book.

A 20-something hustler, rainmaker, and boot-strapper who has survived and thrived despite never having held the proverbial “real” job, Scott Gerber is the ultimate “Generation Y-er.” He’s a self-taught serial entrepreneur who built several successful businesses without storied business connections, a business-school background, executive training—or investment dollars. And in Never Get a “Real” Job, he shows you how he succeeded so you can overcome today’s chronic conditions of mass unemployment, underemployment, and dead-end 9-to-5s.

Gerber gives you the no-bull reality on turning your business idea into a viable enterprise capable of generating real income now—based on his hard-knocks lessons learned in the entrepreneurial trenches.

From the perils of doing too much too fast, to bogging down a promising start-up with infrastructure long before it’s needed, Gerber has experienced firsthand how you can sabotage your own business. Never Get a “Real” Job will help you avoid the costly mistakes that can take down your enterprise at any time, helping you to get off the ground, establish your business, and keep it successfully up and running.

But Gerber isn’t just giving you a collection of war stories. He gives you insights from a fellow young entrepreneur on how to start from absolutely nothing—building a viable business model from the groundup. Along with straight-shooting advice on creating contacts and cultivating clients, he offers practical, affordable, step-by-step instructions on how to constantly analyze, refine, and target your business offerings—while minimizing wasted time and keeping you on track.

With vast resources like online tools, websites, checklists, and hard coaching, as well as thousands of dollars worth of connections to free and discounted small business services, Never Get a “Real” Job takes you off the unrewarding resume and cover-letter cycle, while putting you on the road to becoming a self-sufficient business owner and creating a life that gives you a real shot at the success you deserve.

Great book for beginners, great resources provided.

This is book is great for people who know that 9 to 5s are not good for them and want to take a different path. It gives you the nitty gritty and real advice about what it takes to become a successful business person. I wish I would have read this because I thought that I was different and honestly better than others because I had this mindset, like many others. It is very toxic to think this way because you will look at others getting results and wonder why you aren’t getting any. The marketplace and business world will humble you all the time. This book reminds us that if we aren’t willing to do the hard work in becoming a entrepreneur then we are better off getting a job. Love the realness of this book.

Very basic and outdated

If you’ve never been involved in business, this book might be a good starting point. However, for anyone with experience, the content is basic, service recommendations will be outdated (or are) as the tech/AI wave is fast and transformative and you can save yourself the first 30 minutes of the author telling you how special you truly aren’t. I’d look elsewhere for advice unless this is the first business book you read.

Tells the truth

Would you listen to Never Get a 'Real' Job again? Why?

Yes, so much good information. As you work through idea's for a business listen to it again to pick out the pieces that apply.

What other book might you compare Never Get a 'Real' Job to and why?

The E-myth by Michael Gerber. Both explain the realities of running a business. The other is the 4 hour work week which expalins how to stream line business

could not finish

This book could be 1/3 of the length. Some of us truly looking for guidance and idea's don't need to hear about the author's drawn out history.

Honest and Actionable. This book was the first that actually presented relevant information and ideas that I could act on. Specific web addresses, examples, and data to support and explain his advice.

Seriously the Best Biz Book Our there. It it wasn't I would have given up trying to write this review long ago.

"Real" jobs are over rated

Book gives plenty of good advice... definitely targets a younger crowd. Thought it started off slow and a bit negative but it worked it's way out of that and offered useful information overall.

Negative Nancy

This book was so pessimistic and negative and the sarcastic voice and vibes were super annoying for me. Wasn’t able to finish.

Simple life story

Very disappointed. Had better expectations. Basic life story, something you char about with a friend. Haven’t noticed any real experience or valuable ideas.

Worst business book ever.

Trite, corny, and lacking substance. This book fails quality control from the outset. Garbage like this should be filtered from Audible so that people don't waste their money and credits.
