Great advancement and new paths opened.

I was discouraged to get this book in the series by another review saying it felt more like filler, which I can understand to an extent, but there was so much added in with the time skip and seeing how the town views the Sect after the monster hord. Its great to see our protagonist so close to opening their Spiritual Sea and gaining both a pet and new ways to use magical script.
(Spoiler) I love how the ghost views him as sown togeather bundle of curses that should have transformed into a monster already and im excited to see where things will go as I have the next book ready to play after I type this. so excited to hear more from Nameless Author!

Good story

The overall story is good… but…
Narration is overly dramatic.
Progression is to slow…and…
It is getting repetitive.

3/4 of this story takes place in the same couple of locations; against the same few antagonists. The main story arc never seems to go anywhere. It would be nice to learn more lore. All the main relationships between the characters are a little weird.

It seems as though the story is looking for a reason to keep the MC weak. the progression is truly at a snails pace but I do love the characters, except for Allen. His extreme stupidity is an eyesore

This One Didn’t Land for Me

This entry was… fine, but honestly disappointing. It wasn’t terrible, but it never really clicked for me either. For a cultivation series, there’s surprisingly little actual cultivation happening, and that absence really stood out this time.

The biggest issue for me continues to be the main character’s tone. He comes across as consistently petulant and reactive, and I’ve found I need long breaks between books just to tolerate it. In this installment, that irritation outweighed my enjoyment, and I often found myself wishing the book would wrap up so I could move on to something else.

There is some progression—he opens twelve nodes—but it doesn’t feel particularly meaningful or impactful. Likewise, the “sect” he’s involved with barely feels like a sect at all. While it initially provided shelter, structure, and some sense of companionship, in this book it mostly serves as a source of friction and setbacks. Rather than enabling growth, it feels like a constant drag on the character.

Finally, I wasn’t a fan of the darker direction the story seems to be pushing the protagonist toward. Combined with the other issues, it left me feeling disengaged rather than curious about what comes next.

At this point, I don’t plan to continue the series. While others may enjoy where it’s heading, this book made it clear that it’s no longer a good fit for me.
