Mindfulness is a form of meditation that involves focusing all of your attention on your breathing; feeling as the air flows in and out of your body, without judging or being affected by anything inside or around you. Through this technique, you become the observer of your thoughts. Being mindful is about observing without criticism and about being compassionate with oneself.

It gives you the ability to acknowledge sadness and keep yourself from wallowing in the negative thinking patterns that it brings. Essentially, it puts you back behind the steering wheel of your life.

I like this book

I like how the author discussed that we have to practice mindfulness and live in the present to discover our spiritual beings. There is power from living in the present moment. God's presence is in the now.

This is a truly awesome book

This is a truly awesome book. I've tinkered with meditation for many years, mainly to gain some calmness and balance during the day in what could be a fairly stressful job. This book gave me a much deeper understanding of what meditation is supposed to be about and how to better approach it. It is a true gift to anyone who wants to know what meditation is about and how to approach doing it.

mindfulness

I was expecting more from the book as a person that has been practicing meditation and mindfulness for awhile. The book has some good points but I felt it was a book for people new to meditation and mindfulness.

helpful

I discovered this book when my mom died and it helped me through the grieving process. Now I gift it to anyone I know going through some personal suffering. Beautifully written it is an exceptional introduction to meditation for those new to the process and a wonderful guide for those looking for more insights.
