The Qur'an, believed by Muslims to be the word of God, was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad 1,400 years ago. Helpful Translation for First-time Reader

I grew up Roman Catholic, and I have been wanting to read the Torah, the New Testament Bible, and the Qu'ran in their (respective) original languages. But, since I do not know all of the 'original languages', this was a very good "substitute" (at least, it seemed to be) for purposes of a first introduction to the material.

Superb

A superb English rendering of the Holy Qur’an.

Ayman Hakeem’s clear recitation of the written word brings the Qur’an to life for those who struggle with or cannot understand the Arabic. The addition of a brief explanation of when and where each sura (verse) was revealed tremendously benefits the listener as to the context. A frequently missing component of other translations.

I listened through the book four times before offering a review and consulted those who know the Arabic and found this to be an exceptional translation .

Read the Quran but also listen!

I love the fact it has intro to every chapter and how the Surah was significant when it was revealed. My go-to Quran translation, so easy to listen to. I have it on repeat day and night. Perfection in every sense of the word. Would highly recommend this translation if you want to ease into understanding the word of God Almighty. All praises to the Lord of all Worlds, the Merciful.

Not what I expected in the best possible way

Read it out of curiosity and was amazed by the beauty! Please if a certain word not the overall message bothers you, research the meaning in Arabic. English isn’t as descriptive of a language which I didn’t know till I looked into translation. The wisdom still translates and is clear no man or woman wrote this. Please read it sincerely. As an American it is sad to see how wrongly the Quran is portrayed in our media/culture.

Many promises of a painful, humiliating torment for non-believers

I was surprised that it had such good things to say about Christianity and Judaism, saving is worst condemnations for the polytheists, idolaters, and hypocrites. Islam should look to its roots to be a more peaceful, forgiving religion as God is most merciful. This book is helpful to understand one of the world's great religions and the beliefs shared by over a billion people. But who or what were the Djinn?
