Resumen del Editor

A recent study showed that when doctors tell heart patients they will die if they don't change their habits, only one in seven will be able to follow through successfully. Desire and motivation aren't enough: even when it's literally a matter of life or death, the ability to change remains maddeningly elusive.

Given that the status quo is so potent, how can we change ourselves and our organizations?

In Immunity to Change, authors Robert Kegan and Lisa Laskow Lahey show how our individual beliefs - along with the collective mindsets in our organizations - combine to create a natural but powerful immunity to change. By revealing how this mechanism holds us back, Kegan and Lahey give us the keys to unlock our potential and finally move forward. And by pinpointing and uprooting our own immunities to change, we can bring our organizations forward with us.

This persuasive and practical book, filled with hands-on diagnostics and compelling case studies, delivers the tools you need to overcome the forces of inertia and transform your life and your work.

Great Book!

Worth listening multiple times. But "Senge" is mispronounced. A minor but vexing problem. Hope it gets fixed.

Valuable insights wrapped in A LOT of filler

There are definitely some gems in here, but the book drags at times and was a challenge to finish. Also the audiobook references the bonus pdf frequently so print it out before you start listening.

Great, pragmatic, tactical

it's an excellent blue print for change, well written and helpful for helping in the change journey

Good book, too verbose

This book provides some key ideas and some supporting tools to help individuals and organizations effect significant change. Unfortunately it’s too verbose. It would be a 5 star book if it was 70% shorter.

Rich in insight, overly wordy

profound perspective with very useful processes. eager to apply, but somewhat redundant in the structure of the book. .

Great book

Still relevant and worth a read even almost 15 years later. Will make you think deep and hard about what it will take to change.

Made me want to read it in print

There were many great stories and examples throughout this book that made it enjoyable to listen to. But ultimately, it’s a book about how to change yourself at work and may be best experienced by reading on the page with pen in hand to take notes, answer questions about yourself related to the subject their discussing. I actually did buy the paperback book of their weight-loss related follow-up book, and found theirs such a powerful and yet easy system to identify why it’s hard for you to change and figure out ways to actually make changes happen. Really great material, possibly that everyone should be learning about around high school age!

better to read than listen

strata well, but it gets dry easily and there is constant references to thing that would be in the book or companion guide. my guess is this would be a good read but was not a good listen. still was able to pluck a few nuggets, but this one is tough to be attentive to, and pointless of you aren't attentive to it

Best book I've ever read in this personal realm

Amazingly insightful and deceptively simple. This book will help you unlock stubborn internal patterns and grow your capacity in the first sense of the word.
