Torture. Darkness. Loss.

That's what the Fae king has planned to break her. But Elessia is prepared to fight. She is ready to fight her way out of the king's claws, fight to save Havlands from rebels and Fae alike, and above all, fight to return to the one she loves.

In the end, it's her own life she might need to fight for the most. Even though her mate will do anything, including ripping the entire world to shreds, to keep her safe, there is nowhere to hide when the gods themselves are after you.

This was a solid continuation of the story and there were several really strong moments that stood out to me. Even though I didn’t love it as much as the previous book, I still enjoyed the journey and the emotional depth of certain scenes. I’m very curious about the final book in the saga and especially about how Ferlina’s story will continue.

What significantly affected my overall experience, however, was the male narrator, Antonio Palmini. Unfortunately, he did a rather poor job, and I found his narration genuinely difficult to listen to. I would have much preferred the entire book to be narrated by the female narrator, who did an excellent job and really brought the story to life. His parts, in my opinion, took away from the overall impression of the audiobook. Nevertheless, Merrick remains my favorite MMC, and I’m still invested in the series.

Good story, Antonio Palmini did a very poor job though, such a disappointment!

OK so this review is primarily for the narrators. First, Raine.....they make him sound like a frumpy, beer belly, unattractive, washed up old guy. Yet he gets Elessia's younger sister interested??? The audio for his character needs to improve to get the fat old guy vision out of my head.
Second, Anthony Palmini has lost his mojo. There were soooo many awkward pauses and inflections. Almost like hes just learning how to read out loud. Many times he also sounded AI generated. Maybe he's gotten lazy with his popularity. I think the female narrator would have done better going solo.

Some awk voices

so first of all when I read the second book I didn't let myself read it until February 8th so that I didn't have to wait too long until this one came out. I was waiting for it to come out like the new pair of Jays. And let me tell you she did not disappoint. The only thing I did not like is the fact that I was crying for people that I didn't know all throughout this book.
This book and the other 2 before it is🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Omg this saga is so good and I need the next book asap!!

In book 3 Lessia has to garner allies to go to war against her uncle so the story centers around that coming to an end at the actual war. Book 3 also gives you more POV’s other than Lessia’s. We get Merrick, Loche, and Frelina’s POV. I love having more than one POV, as you get to learn more about other characters and they develop their own sub plots tbs connect to the larger. It reminds me of throne of glass where things were happening simultaneously and you’re getting the different POVs until everything comes together in the end. What was interesting is that up until now, the books have centered around the ultimate goal of unaliving the evil King, and that happens, so the twist at the end is interesting. They kind of hedged around it letting us know that Merrick never went so far as to have the souls crossover so I am interested in how book 4 will go. And it also seems like there’s another part of the prophecy that we didn’t hear about until literally the last page of this book. I have been loving a series so far. But I will say some of the book was repetitive in that they kept bringing up that Alessia has to die and so there are tons of scenes about just dealing with that and trying to move on from that fact, and I don’t know it just felt a little of the same conversations said differently throughout the book. But it’s not enough for me to give this book a lower rating. I will say the first two books were five stars for me. This one is a 4.75 just because of that little repetitiveness, but I still love the story and I am invested in the plot. And I will be reading book 4.

That ending though! 4.75⭐️

Really loved Merrick again in this book. Happy Locke might get a happy ending after all, and so excited to see more of Frelina in the next book!

Love Merrick
