This book is not a romance book. It is Pitch Black. Please check your trigger warning….now IT WAS REALLY GOOD! I absolutely loved the story line. It is dual narration, I wish it was told in duet but the narrators did an amazing job. Beautifully written!! Can’t wait for book 2

When I started this book I was like well this is nothing! This isn’t as “pitch black” as I’ve heard……
Well let me tell you YES IT IS!! 24690 is a dark almost disturbing read that will have you questioning the authors state of mind! I loved it!! Whitmore is a world of its own! The things that happen within are definitely trigger worthy so CHECK YOUR TRIGGERS!!!! Everleigh(24690) is a true FMC!! She is strong determined and out for revenge! The ongoing fight for her is evident and leads to her becoming more confident in herself and what she’s capable of! You must have a strong stomach to read this one! Perfection in my opinion! A.A.Dark nailed it with this book! Kudos to you ma’am! Definitely a 5 star must read if PITCH BLACK is your genre of choice! 🖤

These books take you into the lives of the underground world where raping and murdering everyday are normal. Torture both physically and mentally are a given. No one is safe and no one is off limits. Trigger warnings- Cannibalism, body mutilation, incest, pedos, kidnappings, brutal rapings, etc are just some of the warnings.
This is not your typical smut. You will get the sex but it’s not pretty.

This audiobook is intense, dark, and absolutely not for the faint of heart. It takes you into a horrifying underground world of slavery, cruelty, and twisted power. If you’re looking for a romance with light angst, this is not it. If you’re prepared for a story that challenges moral boundaries and dives into disturbing territory — it delivers.

The narration by Calamity Jane and Troy Duran is solid: they bring the story’s voices and the dark atmosphere to life in a way that enhances the chilling setting. The world-building is vivid. The subterranean fortress “Whitlock” (where slaves are held and auctioned) is crafted with enough detail to make you feel the oppressive atmosphere. 

I’m familiar with Troy Duran (we’ll get to his performance in a moment) but Calamity Jane is new to me. Her performance is raw and emotional. She uses subtle trembling and breath control to convey terror, confusion, and rage. At times, she whispers so softly that it feels like a she’s sharing a secret. Love her and will be looking up more of her work.

Troy’s voice is deep, controlled, commanding; you can hear the cruelty under the composure. He doesn’t overplay dominance; instead, his restraint makes his performance more chilling. His female voice is is perfect.

I can’t wait to listen to the rest of this series!
