Great Narration. OK story

This was a quick listen and I’ll definitely listen to the second book to see if it’s worth continuing. I just finished speak by ruby darling and dear reader by Tate James and both of those were fantastic with similar vibes so I might not be giving this a completely fair review. I did enjoy it for the most part. It was just a little slow. The relationship kind of felt like insta love. The knife handle play feels very overdone. There wasn’t a whole lot of character development so it was hard to feel connected to the characters. I will listen to the second book to see how it progresses. I just wish there were more definitive personality traits for each character. I wish they were more unhinged. They kind of just felt normal when they had conversations with each other.

The narration was fantastic. Every narrator did a fantastic job. There’s nothing better than fullcast duet narration.

So good but…

This book has an Allstar cast & there’s nothing else to say about that haha. However…it wasn’t as crazy as I thought it was gonna be. Maybe it will pick up in book 2, I have hope. This was hyped up a lot and in my opinion this didn’t really match that. Yet.

The ending.

Kinda juvenile written. Was expecting more dark spice. Not as spicy as was lead on by the ads. But good story line.

What a fun time!!

I had never heard of Steph Macca before and when I saw the promos going around for the audio, I became curious. Being a lover of a good why-choose romance and seeing the amazing cast that would be bringing the characters to life, I knew I had to sign tf up for this ride!

This is book one in the Dance with my Demons series. If you love why-choose, secret societies, morally grey characters with a side of forced proximity, then this one might be a good pick for you. It was the perfect amount of dark for a first book and did a great job of introducing the characters. Marie Hawkins, Anthony Palmini, Corvin King, and Joe Arden as individual voice actors are amazing at their craft so listening to them together in one book and bringing these personalities to life in audio was also part of the draw to this audiobook. Their voices and styles were perfect for the characters they voiced, and I think overall it did enhance the written story. I love when a good audiobook captures my attention and makes me love a book more than if I had if I would have just read it physically.

Then ending of this book and the performances of the voice actors left me wanting more. I can’t wait to dig into this series and experience the rest of this story!

10/5 stars! I am so glad I waited for the audio book to come out before I read the kindle copy! I did the tandem…read on my kindle while listening to the audio. That audio book with the cast of narrators…holy sh!t!! This book is giving Girl Interrupted meets Orange is the New Black vibes. I will say reading the trigger warnings I was expecting it to be darker/worse than it actually was, however that’s for each person to decide for themselves so definitely check them before going in. This book had me in a chokehold from the dedication alone! Chef’s kiss! And that ending??? Definitely will be reading book 2! This is how you do an audiobook! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Bravo!!
