Justice for all - Malcolm Little (Malcolm X)

  • Summary

  • Do you take a moment to think about all the injustices going on around the world in the present moment? Injustices of the past? Racial violence? Genocide? Do you spare a moment each day to pray for the people suffering? Do you ask yourself, where is the justice? Are your problems really that bad in comparison?

Malcolm X's 1964 speech addresses the government's failure to protect African Americans and justifies their right to self-defense. He draws a parallel between the American Revolution and the civil rights struggles of African Americans, emphasizing that just as the founding fathers fought against oppression, African Americans must defend their liberty against systemic injustice. Malcolm X highlights the hypocrisy of the U.S. government, which intervenes in international affairs but neglects domestic civil rights abuses. He calls for African Americans to arm themselves for protection, arguing that self-defense is a natural right, especially in the face of police brutality and racial violence. This speech underscores the necessity for African Americans to take action for their own protection and justice, urging the government to fulfill its duties to prevent chaos.

Malcolm Little refers to the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama, which was bombed on September 15, 1963. This tragic event resulted in the deaths of four young African American girls: Addie Mae Collins, Cynthia Wesley, Carole Robertson, and Denise McNair.

The bombing was a significant and horrific event in the Civil Rights Movement, highlighting the severe racial violence and injustice faced by African Americans.

Fast forward several decades, it is heart-breaking that we are still witnessing the violation of civil rights all around our world.
