From cop-turned-comic Eric Tansey, a hilarious and humanizing portrait of law enforcement for fans ofWalk the Blue Line andYou Can’t Make This Stuff Up.

Eric Tansey, a former Army scout and Special Operations military veteran, joined the police force with a ton of unrealistic expectations. The reality of the job knocked him down and changed his perspective on everything.

Always a magnet for uncanny, wild situations, Tansey reveals exactly what it’s like to deal with everyday life as a police officer—from trying to tackle naked suspects to pepper spraying yourself in the face, from dealing with an angry mob to coaxing suicidal subjects off a bridge, an uncut version of everything is included.

Going behind the badge to bring the public a real understanding of the job, Pig Latin hopes to help inspire sympathy rather than condemnation and to encourage current law enforcement with the knowledge that they are not alone in their mistakes, their fear, and their experience on the job.

What are you waiting for? Just buy it already. Tansey has more life experience over 7 years as a cop in the tip - just the tip - of his finger than all of you reading this combined. Tansey not only survived long enough to accumulate a book's worth of funny, wild, terrifying, gut-wrenching, almost unbelievable situations - he had the discipline to write everything down after he probably already wrote a report about it. Despite the book editor's best efforts, Tansey's humor and way with words still shines through in this slice of life masterpiece. And not that Tansey has anything to be embarrassed about, it takes a serious set of stones to share such personal events and emotions with the world. I hope he makes enough money from this book to afford a massive wheelbarrow to cart those boulders around.

I didn’t expect to laugh this hard listening to a cop memoir, but wow — this one’s hilarious. The stories feel super real and unfiltered, like you’re just sitting with a friend swapping wild work stories. The author doesn’t sugarcoat anything, but that’s what makes it so good — it’s honest, funny, and actually pretty relatable at times. The author narrates the story and nails the tone too, which makes all the crazy calls and characters even better. Definitely one of those audiobooks you end up talking about to everyone. If you like true stories with humor and heart, hit play on this one. You won’t regret it.

After 29 years in LE, this was relatable and hilarious. Most of us have gone through similar experiences. My brother suggested this book and it opened his eyes to things his little sister has seen and felt.

So relatable
