Danny R. Smith spent 21 years with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the last seven as a homicide detective. After retiring from law enforcement, he moved to Idaho where he worked as a private investigator and consultant until retiring from his second career in 2022. He is blessed with a beautiful wife and two wonderful daughters, and an array of very spoiled furry friends. He is the author of the Dickie Floyd Detective Novel series, the Rich Farris Detective Novel series, and his memoir, NOTHING LEFT TO PROVE. Danny has written articles for trade publications, and he publishes a true crime blog called The Murder Memo, which can be found at dickiefloydnovels.com. He has appeared as a subject matter expert on various shows and documentaries including the STARZ channel WRONG MAN, as well as numerous podcasts. He is a regular guest of TRUE CRIME DAILY, an award-winning true crime podcast hosted by Emmy award-winning TV journalist and host, Ana Garcia.
