Paul Milone broke down over a thousand doors in his work with the Omaha Police Department. Living up to his nickname as Ram One on his SWAT team, he led the way on high-risk no-knock warrants. On one such harrowing hostage rescue callout, he was forced to shoot to kill to save a life—and did. Paul lost two partners in line-of-duty events, but he was undeterred in bringing the bad guys to justice during his twenty-three-year career in gang and narcotics crews—with sixteen years also as part of the Midwest’s busiest SWAT unit. He participated in dignitary protection under the guidance of the US Secret Service and worked with all law enforcement agencies in the area during investigations. During his undercover work, he bought meth, crack, cocaine, fentanyl, and other dangerous street drugs and guns and stolen property, all the while fooling the criminals he later sent to prison. He became a master of disguise while hiding in plain sight on the streets. An Omaha native, Paul holds a degree in criminal justice from the University of Nebraska Omaha and a master’s degree in human services from Bellevue University. A decorated officer, Paul retired from law enforcement in 2022. He now teaches firearms safety and gives presentations to young adults about situational awareness in a dangerous world. As a devout Christian, Paul has written articles on faith-based decisions for his diocese’s newspaper. Paul continues to be heavily involved in the Ted Nugent Kamp for Kids. Paul and his wife, Catherine, a thirty-year law enforcement officer, live in a rural setting where Paul likes to help farmers during harvest. He enjoys hunting and fishing with his buddies and watching as many sunrises and sunsets as he can.
