The end of the world was just the beginning... for Steve.

One bad hangover. One zombie apocalypse. Zero chance of survival — unless you’re Steve.

Armed with a samurai sword, stolen steak knives, and a bad attitude, Steve stumbles out of his wrecked apartment into a nightmare. The infected are everywhere. Civilization is collapsing fast. And unfortunately for humanity, Steve isn't exactly hero material.

But survival has a funny way of forcing you to grow up.

From battling lunatic survivors and hordes of zombies to uncovering twisted conspiracies, Steve's journey across six brutal books is packed with blood, dark humor, questionable decisions, and moments of unexpected heroism.

This isn't your standard zombie series.
This is The Zournal — where the apocalypse is messy, hilarious, and a little too real.

This box set includes all six books for over 1,500 pages of post-apocalyptic action, humor, and survival horror:

  • Book 1 – It All Started

  • Book 2 – Cruising The 'Poc

  • Book 3 – Scorched Earth

  • Book 4 – Reap What You Sow

  • Book 5 – Feeling Lucky?

  • Book 6 – The Final Countdown

Fans of Zombie Fallout by Mark Tufo, Feed by Mira Grant, Plague of the Dead by Z.A. Recht, and Bloodsucking Fiends by Christopher Moore will love The Zournal. It is a raw, hilarious, and unfiltered ride through the zombie apocalypse told by a survivor with more attitude than ammo. If you are into sarcastic inner monologues, brutal choices, and undead mayhem with heart, this one is for you.

While the story is your typical zombie apocalypse book making a hero out of a complete moron, by NOT having a actual human narrating the books it not only makes it hard to listen to,but turns a otherwise decent book into a crappy one. Especially when such easy words a tylonal or other words the AI cannot pronounce worth a crap. While the lowest performance Allowed is only one star I would actually give it a zero star review so unless your desperate for one of these types of books,my advice is to save your credits or money and get one that’s actually read by a human, even a bad Narrator is 100% better than whispersync!

Whispersync Narrated books are a waste of money!

I love the way you could be on the verge of tears and laughing the next moment. It had enough gore for a good zombie series but the plot was so much more than just zombies. Steve, Ann, Jenny, Reeves, Thomas and the whole list of characters were so relatable and that is what I loved. The zombies were there but I was more interested in what the characters were doing and how they did what they had to do to keep each other alive.
I wish the narration was done by a real performer, the AI was okay, but the way it said .22 instead of twenty two, and the word ammo was pronounced incorrectly. There were times that an “a” was attached to a word instead of before a word but the more I got into the story the less it seemed to bother me. If it is ever read by someone, Sean Runette would be perfect! I would listen to the whole series again! Loved this entire series, not one boring moment!

Amazing story! Love, Love, Loved it!!

The storyline is very engaging and nonstop action it goes rather fast, paced through the entire story, but is cohesive and pretty easy to follow. There were a few times where I wasn’t sure if the stumble and being able to follow the book was because of the automated voice or a gap in the storyline.
The automated voice did give several problems throughout the story when it did not recognize certain words and it did also have a more wooden sound to the dialogue as they were not those natural inflections that were obviously meant to be so I definitely feel like it lacked something for the fact that it did not have a human reader.
However, overall the book was a ton of fun and definitely worth a listen, will definitely recommend.

Fun fast paced books

I hate AI narrators… not quite inflective enough…. Sounds fake. Please stop this trend! It’s not just the storyline… it’s performance

No more AI narrators.

A somewhat different twist on the zombie apocalypse theme, with really good dark humor scattered in. Terrific characters and an excellent flow to the story. Well written and in most places even believable.
Some glaring mistakes in firearms identification and capabilities. Same for military doctrine and procedures. But those can be overlooked easily as the main character and narrator is a self-proclaimed college drop-out slacker with no knowledge in those fields.
The only really detractors from this series (I would probably rated it 5 stars otherwise) is the HORRIBLE AI narration!! It is mostly monotone, and consistently mispronounces words, places emphasis and pauses in confusing places and makes for a confusing listen in many places.
Either train the AI to recognize abbreviations, or at least go back and edit the series to fix these issues. They are very distracting.

Excellent story line, but the AI narration is TERRIBLE!

I really enjoyed the characters and plot. If this had an actual narrator it would have been 5 stars for me!!

I read/watch and listen to a lot of post apocalyptic stories. Not all zombie related but a fair share are. I didn’t know what to expect as I’m not a fan on humor for honors sake but Steve won me over instantly.

At first the AI generated narration didn’t bother me. Then it irked me when it would say words correctly and then screw them up. Turn it dawned on me I’ve fallen for narrators so much so I’ve bought books from authors I’ve never read simply because I love the narrator and that my support/tolerance/mere acceptance of this book would be in the long term jeopardizing their professions.

With all that said. Books are amazing. AI narration does well but wish it had been a human. I enjoyed enough to be willing to give author a look at other book but not if read by AI. One of the best apocalyptic zombie could be true yet not since Feed!

this could have been so good if it wasn't narrated by virtual voice. I made it thru the whole thing . it was a tough listen, mispronounced words, awkward pauses , inconsistent pronounced words made me wonder if it was ever " proof listened " I doubt it.
I think the author did a fine job that wasn't made better by virtual voice

good story, horrible narrator
