Story
Much has been lost in the conflict with the Fae king and his allies, a conflict we hadn't known we were in until one of our own fell at his hand. And while a great Seal between realms may have been rebuilt, dark things slipped through in the chaos, creatures who would overrun this world. Our allies are many. Our enemies are terrible. And someone ate my last chimichanga despite the fact I had clearly marked it with a note that said it was mine.

Two years have passed since John the vampire did the impossible and returned from the edge of oblivion, and he didn’t even get a novelty T-shirt for his troubles. You know the ones: "I went to Sheol, and all I got was this stupid shirt". Now, our “hero”, Warden Broadway, and Ludvig the Hunter are finally ready to carry out their mission of eliminating all warlocks on Earth - which was tasked to them by Hecate herself. Those Wonderful Toys returns to the fast-paced, oftentimes comical style of action that makes John the lovable antihero that he is.

Publisher's Summary
There's a turning point in every war, but I didn't expect this one to be in my front yard. Allies of the Fae king have moved against the military stationed in Saint Charles. Our unsteady alliances are threatening to fracture, providing the water witches and vampires an opportunity to strike.
With losses on both sides, things are far more dire than we realized, and the return of a long-forgotten enemy has made that clear. Thankfully, I know a very grumpy parrot.

This book kept me on the edge of my seat from page one all the way to the end. I’m exhausted just listening to Damien’s adventures. I am quite impressed with the way the author weaves in crucial information and foreshadowing while keeping the action moving nonstop. Best one yet!
Author Eric Asher is bloody brilliant! The complexity of the Vesik series is no small feat. The series just keeps getting better. Asher's storyboard must be the size of a wall to keep all the players and storylines straight but he weaves the tale majestically. The military style battles in this installment left me breathless like I was standing next to Vesik myself. There is never a dull moment. I LOVE the MC, Damien Vesik. Vesik is full of attitude and snark. His cheeky manner lightens the mood in the story often. If you haven't read this series, you should be.
The narrator, William Dufris, is phenomenal! He brings the characters and story alive. Dufris embodies the essence of all the characters (and believe that's a lot). Because he lends a unique voice to each there is no doubt who is speaking.
I cannot say enough great things about this series. Trust me, you need to be reading or listening to it.
