Eric didn't ask to be a vampire. In fact he didn't even believe in them. Biting your own tongue with your fangs does a lot of convincing. Even so, being a part-time undead isn't as easy as you might think. It can let you hold down a day job, true, but sometimes the night "life" can be more than a little difficult, what with those bloodthirsty urges and predatory instincts kicking in.

A battle lost. A friend fallen. Cue the heroic undead....
Vicky shouldn’t be alive. Knowing she has necromancer Damian Vesik to thank for her second chance, she’s willing to do whatever it takes to return the favor.

But Vicky isn’t the only one who aims to stop the colossus. Damian’s allies are rallying, ready to go to battle for their chimichanga-loving friend. Time will tell if it’s enough to bring him back from the brink, though the Mad King’s ambitions may have already doomed them all.

Okay. Here's the scoop
First, my review of the book, directly from Amazon itself.
The Book of the Ghost - By Eric R Asher
Well, let me say this. If you have read any of the Vesik books, this is picking up where Forgotten Ghosts left off. (Finally a resolution).
The Books of the Dead are classified as novellas, instead of novels. This just means they are shorter.
The Book of the Ghost is the first Book of the Dead. With that said, you’ll find a new point of view. It might come as a surprise, but the new point of view is of __________ (no spoilers: you should be able to tell by the summary and cover photo).
Holy chimichangas is this book very fast paced! It moves faster, if you can believe it, than the original eight Vesik books.
I want to give details, but I hate spoilers, so I’m not going to torment you like that.
Here’s the long-short of it: if you loved the other Vesik books, GET THIS to continue the story. If you’ve never read the Vesik books, I’d start there. There is quite a bit of back knowledge that is HIGHLY recommended that you have!
If you’ve ever read any of Eric Asher’s stuff, you know how fast he had it planned. I’m about to read it all again. It was PHENOMENAL! Do not second guess yourself! Get this book! Read the full series! Read Eric R Asher’s full catalog! You can NOT go wrong!
Disclaimer: I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from the publisher and author.
Now for the audio version of the book.
As with many who have told the author directly, we were all frightened with the new narrator for the Vesik series.
Let me tell you this now, Erin Moon is AMAZING! This is my first experience with Erin Moon narrating and I'll definitely be looking for more from her.
Remember that the Books of the Dead are novellas with different perspectives for each new book. Using a new narrator makes sense, but with our love of William Dufris's voice abilities, many of us were left uncertain.
Erin Moon brings life to the new point of views within this novella. She has distinct voices for each of the characters and made the book very enjoyable to listen too.
Ultimately, it is my belief that Erin Moon is the female version of William Dufris! You can't go wrong if you listen.

Something old, someone new, amazing as always!
After having the same, incredible, narrator for the first 8 books, I was worried that a new voice wouldn't "fit" the stories. I was wrong, boy was I wrong! The story of Vicky has always been woven through every book, so hearing a story just about her gives some substance to what we've heard bits and pieces of since the first book. As always, the story is spot on, seamlessly transitioning from book to book. The narrator is superb. Maybe transitioning to a new narrator who is the same gender as the main character may have helped. Erin has taken the characters we know an love, and made them her own, without losing the basics of their characters built by William Dufris (who was an absolute perfect match for the stories). Once again, Eric has knocked it out of the park!!

All the stars
I'm loving the fresh new voice of the narrator for this series. She has quite the range of cast to cover and she does it well!
As to the novella itself? The Vesik series has a huge cast of characters and they are all fantastic, but the series is about Vesik. I am left always wanting to know more about the rest and these little novellas hit the spot. I've loved the idea of Vicky's character being this small character that grows into a ferocious warrior. This book shows you just how courageous, capable, and loyal she is.
I can't wait to listen to more.

Replacing a legend is never easy
but Erin Moon has more than capably stepped into William Dufris' shoes here. I started listening to this one with some trepidation since I've had poor experiences in the past when authors were forced to changed narrators of a series for one reason or another but that certainly isn't the case here.
She's perfect as Vickie and did quite a job of maintaining the feel of other characters from the Vesik world while giving them a new voice, literally. I'm quite happy that Asher chose her to carry on for William.
Vickie, everyone's favorite little ghost turned Demigod turned Harrower turned Demon turned soul sword wielding preteen is back with Jasper, her pet dragon Reaver by her side, ready to kick butt. For those who have wondered about Drake, Wahya, and the rest of the Obsidian Inn this is your book. It picks up with Damian having merged with Hern to become an unstoppable colossus of gravemaker and Fae magic that is soon to be under Nudd's control. Enter Vickie, Samantha, and Damian's friends to the.....you didn't think I'd spoil the whole thing, did you?. Give it a listen. You won't regret it.

enjoyed it.
I enjoyed the story as much as all of the other Vesik books. The only thing that I had some issue with, that wasn’t even a major issue, was the new narrator giving accents to characters that haven’t had accents in the first 8 books. I thought Erin Moon was a good narrator, but since William Dufris narrated the first 9 books and did the voices for all of the character that were in this one, I wish he had continued to narrate the series or that Erin at least didn’t give accents to Drake and Foster and other characters who didn’t have them prior in the series. That being said, I still enjoyed her narration and will continue to listen to the rest of the series.

Fabulous Story
I really enjoyed listening to this story!! It was full of action, suspense and humor. Asher has a way with words that keep you entertained from beginning to end.
The characters are phenomenal. I fell in love with them and loved the connection I made with them.
The story-line was amazing!! I was completely hooked from beginning to end. The way Asher weaves the words into his story keeps you craving to read/listen to more.
Narrator was really good!! I loved how she changed her voices for each character because it made it the story that much more interesting and kept me loving the story too!! I highly recommend this story!!

Fast paced and emotional
Fast paced and action packed. It was hard to read everything that the characters go through in this book which made it very emotional for me.
Vicky is really proving herself to be a huge asset to these allies, someone to be taken very seriously. Some surprising new allies in this book as well.
So many sit on the edge of your seat moments, heart in throat... I'm so vested in this family of characters that it's hard to see anything bad happen to any of them.
So waiting for the day they'll get some light back in their lives, some breath of fresh air. They've been fighting so long that normal, for them, is so much in their distant past.
Ready for some redemption for all the allies. So excited to see where they get to next!
This author did amazing for this book. I'm used to a different voice for these characters but, she really did them justice.
