Publisher's summary

“As if waking up from a nightmare, I thought, If I am going to be traumatized, I might as well be traumatized in Paris, right?

Devastated by the unexpected end of her decades-long marriage, renowned spiritual teacher and intuitive guide Sonia Choquette undertook an equally unexpected move and relocated to Paris, the scene of many happy memories from her life as a student and young mother. Arriving in the aftermath of the Charlie Hebdo massacre, she found a Paris as traumatized by this unforeseen event as she had been by her divorce. Together, over the following years, she and the city she loves began a journey of healing that involved deep soul searching and acceptance of new, sometimes uncomfortable reality.

In this follow-up to Walking Home, Sonia shares her intimate thoughts and fears as well as the unique challenges of setting up a new life in a foreign land. From moving into a freezing, malodorous apartment to a more pleasant - yet haunted - flat across the Seine to her current light-filled home, Sonia shares how these changes parallel her inner transformation. Along the way, Sonia regales listeners with vivid stories of her unfortunate encounters with French hairdressers and beauticians, her adventures in French fashion, and her search for the perfect neighborhood café. Her companion throughout is the city of Paris - a character unto itself - which never ceases to fill her with wonder, surprise, and delight and provides her with the spiritual strength to succeed in establishing her new life.

I wanted to love this, but couldn't.

I love all things French, and Paris is where my soul is most at home, so I was certain I'd love this book. I was wrong. it's trite, boring, and has the worst narration I've ever heard. don't waste your money.

Darn!! I was disappointed this time.

I can appreciate Ms. Choquette'writing this book as her way of recovering & healing from the loss of her marriage & identity. I've read ALL of her books. They are filled with insight from an incredibly different world where she gives us wonderful, humourous &, fun ways to understand & use her teachings. This book felt like the story was coming from one of Ms. Choquette's much earlier students using her very basic teachings, confirming to herself & readers that this spiritual world is ALL that she's taught us that it is.?
I'm y truly looking forward to her next book!!!

Distracting Narration and Boring Story

I wanted to love this, to be inspired. In the end, I couldn't stand listening to the narration and the story bored me.

Can’t endure the narration

The author does herself no favors by narrating her own book. The subject is of great interest to me, but I couldn’t get beyond the third chapter because the narration was so annoying. Mike’s review describes it exactly. I felt I was being read to during children’s time at the library. It was too distracting to continue so I am returning my purchase.

Useful maybe if you plan to move to Paris

Normally I love Ms Choquette’s work but not this one.. kept waiting for it to begin, never did. literally sounds like a transcription of a journal including everyday inconsequential mishaps & snafus, with no real meat.

REFRESHINGLY HONEST & HUMOROUS!

Throughout the book I got the feeling that Sonia was doing herself in (and sometimes her daughter) in her struggle to find herself but she also found humor during those times which is not an easy thing to do when life seems to be crashing down. Sonia's journey is our journey and yes.... Paris lives in of all of us!

Terrific!

Once again Sonia knocks it out of the park with her honesty, vulnerabi!ity and desire to share so others can learn as well from her journeys! Just another reason I follow Sonia's work and recommend her whenever I can!
