Publisher's summary

Rob Paulsen is one of Hollywood's busiest, most talented, and most passionate performers. If you don't know him by name, you will know him by the many characters he has brought to life: Pinky from Pinky and the Brain and Yakko from Animaniacs, the tough but loveable Raphael from the original animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and many more.

So, you can imagine how terrifying it must have been when Rob was diagnosed with throat cancer, putting his entire livelihood in jeopardy and threatening to rob the world of all his loveable characters that filled our youth and adulthood with humor and delight.

Voice Lessons tells the heartwarming and life-affirming story of Rob's experience with an aggressive cancer treatment and recovery regimen, which luckily led to a full recovery. Rob quickly returned to doing what he loves most, but with a much deeper appreciation of what he came so close to losing. His new lease on life inspired him to rededicate himself to his fans, particularly the new friends he made along the way: hundreds of sick children and their families. Rob said it best himself: "I can not only continue to make a living, but make a difference, and I can't wait to use that on the biggest scale that I can."

The man who was the voice of my childhood

If you watched cartoons as a kid then you probably have heard him in it. Give it a listen.

Amazing

I got to meet Mr. Paulsen at DragonCon in 2017. He truly is a great guy. My daughter has Asperger's and Mr. Paulsen was very kind and spent a few minutes chatting with her. He's always been her favorite voice actor. After that day he became mine.

Just a treat!

First of all I grew up watching 99% of the shows Rob Paulsen was cast in. And yes I have had the true HONOR of meeting this voice actor Legend. (Big Pinky fan here) And yes he is one of the sweetest, kindness, most humble people I have ever had the joy of meeting and a darn good actor!
Anyway when I heard he was putting out a book I was thinking "Awesome I wonder if he is going to record it?"
And I was over the moon when I got this title,
The honestly of life the good and bad times that we all go through and having great family and friends to help and love you along the way.
Mr. Paulsen tells it like it is but through kindness and making people happy and just being alive. I laughed and yes cried listening to this book. Mr. Paulsen along with many voice actors were some of my heroes growing up. Because through their acting and characters they helped made me laugh. (And we so need laughter in our lives)
It was just so awesome to hear and learn something new about somebody I truly did hear on TV pretty much all of my life.
If you're a 1980s or 1990s kid and liked the cartoons or just a big cartoon lover or just likes a book that makes you feel great! Do yourself a favor buy this title and just sit back and enjoy. And get ready to smile

A Must Listen for a 90s Cartoon Fan and more

Like my headline suggests, I'm a huge fan of 90s cartoons. I grew up watching Animaniacs and Ninja Turtles. My dad and I bonded over episodes of Jimmy Neutron. As a drama kid/wanna-be voice actor, I LOVED impersonating cartoon characters, many of which were voiced by Rob Paulsen.

This is a great story to hear the ups and downs he went through both professionally and personally. To hear words of wisdom and encouragement that even the great actors I've idolized also dealt with doubt and uncertainty. And it's incredibly uplifting to hear his characters pop in and out of the book at the perfect times.

Thank you for sharing, Mr. Paulsen!

Cowabunga!

Getting to know a voice I've related to and been familiar with since childhood was an absolute trip. I spent the majority of his story on the verge of happy-tears, then real (sad) ones, then happy ones again. there's a good chance I'll come back to this one anytime I'm in need of some life advice and a little extra turtle power <3

Had me tear up a couple times

Don't know how people who don't know Rob Paulsen would feel, but as a long time fan of the cartoons & characters he's done, I got a bit emotional a couple times while hearing his story.
I loved it, and would recommend this to others who admire voice actors as much as the characters they play.

A Must Listen.

Rob Paulsen was a recent guest in a voice acting class Im subscribed to (Steve Blum’s) and hearing him talk about his career and what he went through during his cancer treatments made me wanna pick this up. This is a valuable source of great stories of when was a singer for rock band, to becoming the voice of many iconic cartoon characters, and how it all led to him battling throat cancer, and the lessons he learned along way. Lots of laughs and impactful emotions are what you can expect hear, and I hope those who listen to this audiobook will take these “voice lessons” to heart after listening. I know I will.
