Beauty business entrepreneur Dean Faiello's "life of the party" attitude was constantly leading him to disaster. When his thriving business wasn't enough for him, he jumped into the world of plastic surgery, without any medical degree or experience.

Then in 2003, what should have been a routine procedure for "Doctor" Faiello turned into a nightmare that cost his patient Maria Cruz her life. Only after her body was discovered buried beneath a concrete slab at Faiello's home did the world learn the dark lengths he would go to for wealth and success.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I would recommend this book to anyone thinking of having any type of body cosmetic changes-.liposuction, laser surgery, etc. The licensing and monitoring of these procedures is very scary or non-existent. I had read of several surgeries

Would you be willing to try another book from Diane Fanning? Why or why not?

Yes. I read a lot of true crime but in this book she has opened another area of crime that I have seldom found.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

No. I did not like the narrator at all. The characters in this story were homosexuals. The narrator's portrayal consisted of using a very soft, female voice used with a slow cadence. Although the story involves several main characters the voice is always the same when carrying on conversations. When relating general background, etc. the only change in the voice is the tempo. The narrator merely speaks a little faster and not so soft.

Unbelievable!

Very sad and tragic and this is a good author --but this book , not a favorite--maybe too much dialog? I do remember this case and the author does very good research. I may try to try reading it again sometime in the future

A sad and tragic case!

I must say I have no idea whether KNIFE is a good story or not. The sing-song narrator, Cyndee Maxwell, seems to have taken singing lessons instead of speaking proper tone to fit the story. Tried several times to listen but couldn't get past the narrator. Pay attention, Fanning, to whom you're hiring. Listen to this narrator and you'll instantly understand my comments.

Horrible narrator! Beware!
