Publisher's Summary

Max Ahlgren thought the nightmare he had endured in Alaska was over. He was wrong.

Consumed with finding those responsible for the death of his family 10 years earlier, Max is approached by Juno Rey, a seductive CIA agent with a tantalizing offer - information on the killers in exchange for Max's help on a top-secret mission. The target: a covert biomedical research facility located deep in North Korea, where scientists are attempting to reverse engineer the alien life-form discovered in Alaska.

An elite team of CIA operatives accompanies him, but even their advanced weapons cannot ensure survival against the murderous abominations created at the facility. Max must decide who he can trust as the devastating secret of their mission unravels. To unlock the secrets of his past, Max must again face his nightmares as he fights to save humanity from an unearthly terror.

Undead is a cocktail of horror, science fiction, and thrilling military action. Fast-paced, terrifying, and visceral, it contains intense scenes of graphic violence and horror. Listener discretion is advised.

Good action but...

The action was good and narrating was awesome but the dialogue was way too much especially at the end. The bad dream flashback sequences slowed the story down and made it seem like the author was trying to fill up space.
It was still a good book but not as good as first one.

Almost stopped in middle to request a refund

I hung in with the story & character for two books... two books longer than I should have. Could not really get to the place where Max felt like anything more than a 2 dimensional character. His emotions felt very shallow & his actions & decisions did not speak highly of his abilities as a leader. The action scenes were graphic but unreal. Felt it very suspect that Max survives missions where everyone else is killed. The writer seems to hate women- they are portrayed as over- sexed eye candy, harpies, manipulative & untrustworthy. Especially hated the voice talent... made Max seem even more like a shallow musclehead.

Too predictable

The entire story comes off as an almost repeat of Book 1, except for different characters. The series story arc really is not moved forward that much and mostly moves in a predictable lateral movement. The protagonist, Max, while portrayed as a military-hardened squad leader loses almost all of that mystic what with his continued tendency to play lapdog to any attractive female who feigns interest in him.

Jeffrey Kafer narration was well done but was hindered by what seemed like a not too distant echo of the first book.

I'll not continue this series.
