Publisher's summary

Betrayal cuts the deepest.

I would know better than anyone.

They never suspected me to be the villain.

That didn’t matter anymore, though, because I didn’t just want revenge, I needed it.

Leaving my old life behind, I knew I could never return, but there was something … no, someone I had left behind.

Scarlett.

Kind. Innocent. Fragile.

She was a light in the darkness of my life.

Back then, she was always meant to be mine, even if having her meant breaking every single rule.

Now, enemies or not, she would still be mine.

still loving the series

I think the reviews are harsh, for this book I have really enjoyed the story even though it's heartbreaking, I can't wait for the next book!

Forbidden Love

“Ren isn’t the villain. He isn’t. He can’t be”

Ren Petrov and Scarlet Rossi- He is 4 years older.
🖤 RIVALS-ENEMIES
🖤 JEALOUS/POSSESSIVE HERO

While this book is a standalone I don’t recommend you read it before starting with the Rossi Family series. Ren’s mood swings make him hard to like if you haven’t met him in the prior books. His brother River wants revenge for Safe Haven, a cult he was raised in where he was abused.

The story starts in a scene from the Corium trilogy we saw. Then skips to 2 years later. Scarlet is sweet, patient and understanding as she finally gets her love Ren, but at the cost of losing her family.

I felt there were a lot of plot holes. Ren was so protective of his sister Luna and should have a strong bond with his adopted parents. Why he wouldn’t speak to them about his revenge doesn’t make sense to me. Also, where is he getting money as he doesn’t seem to work. Also, Scarlet not being upset Q almost died from Ren’s attack doesn’t seem realistic either.

The narration was okay. Marlaina’s voice was a little whiney and made Scar sound annoying at times.

Total bullsh*t that this is a cliffhanger!

This story was slow and I only finished it in hopes that I might get some answers! Then I find out that it ends in a CLIFFHANGER??! With no plans to finish the next book. Ugh. I’m totally pissed.
