Excellent
Loved it. There aren't many books I'm sad when I finish because I just don't want them to end, but this was one of them that left me that way. It was definitely tied up well at the end, but I just didn't want it to end. Thoroughly enjoyed the narration and the story. Very excited to read more by Annette Chávez Macias.

Meh
The writing itself was average, and the story was predictable. At times it felt like the author couldn’t decide whether the plot was supposed to be about current social issues like gender inequality in the workplace, unaffordable healthcare, racism, gentrification, etc., or whether it was supposed to be a romance novel. My personal preference isn’t to hear graphic descriptions about kissing and foreplay, but that may appeal to other listeners. All in all, I managed to listen to the entire book, but it’s not one I would recommend to my friends.

This was a very sweet novel that addresses so many issues Latinas face living in the US. I was surprised to hear the mention of the RGV, since that’s actually my birthplace. Beautiful story with tragedy woven within hope, it was exactly what I needed. Thank you. 🖤
