My Brother’s Best Friend Needed a Wife.
Now He’s Acting Like He’ll Never Let Me Go...

Connor Davenport: Grumpy billionaire CEO, emotionally stunted genius, former undercover operative who's also a cat whisperer, is my brother's best friend and my complete opposite.

I’m a caffeine-fueled, ER doctor.
He’s all precision, control, and impossible standards.

Then he walked into my ER—bleeding, barking orders, and acting like he owned the place. I stitched him up. He asked me to dinner. I refused. That's when he told me he'd been following me for weeks.

The last thing I need is a brooding, possessive, morally grey billionaire turning my life upside down.

And then… he proposed.
Not for love. For business.
A marriage of convenience to unlock his billion-dollar trust fund.

My condition? He saves my hospital from shutting down.

He promised no feelings. I agreed.

But sharing his penthouse, his bed, and his last name is dangerous.
One agreement.
One bed.
One fake relationship that feels all too real.

Every time he calls me my wife, something in his voice shifts.
And every time he looks at me, my heart forgets this is temporary.

But there's one truth I haven’t told him.
One secret that could destroy everything.
And if Connor finds out, this pretend marriage might end with a very real heartbreak...

Fall into the world of the Davenports—One-Click NOW!

The Wrong Husband, an Audiobook by L. Steele, is the hugely exciting, romantic story of Connor and Phoenix. She’s an ER doctor dealing with a difficult relationship. His friend has asked him to look out for her. So, he begins watching.

These two just captured my heart!!!!! The sneakiness, openness, secrets, and danger had me on the edge of my seat throughout this incredible read! The underlying story beneath the romance is absolutely gripping and will keep you hooked!! Then, there’s the steam…whew!!! So many reasons to love this book!!!

This Audiobook was masterfully narrated by Shane East and Mackenzie Cartwright, who use the perfect inflections, nuances, and emotions to bring these characters to life, in a believable way!! Shane’s portrayal of Connor is fantastic! His voice is completely mesmerizing…and delicious!! Mackenzie is no slouch either!! Her performance was incredible and breathtaking!!! Loved them both!!!

Fan-freaking-tastic, gripping read!!

Wonderful book! Fantastic story, with a neat plot twist. Lots of steamier than ever nuckie scenes!🥵😳😈 Can you say kink-o-riff-ic!!!🫠
However if you have followed the series… some of the writing is getting a little bit tire some. Would love more memorable something… Or that scene that grabs ya. I know not a big ask. 😉🤞🏼
But I do recommend this book 📖 it’s great. 👍🏼🥳🤩

Great as always…!

Oh, the things that brew between Dr. Phoenix (Phe) Hamilton and Connor Davenport. For good, bad, or steamy, I'm along for the ride!

She needs to figure out a way to slow down and address the things in her life that she's been avoiding for months and years. He is being pushed into a corner, and like all the other Davenports, needs to marry to do what he desires with his inheritance. Thus, the marriage of convenience plot takes form.

They are a bit of an odd couple, but one that I like together. I like that he makes an effort to woo her after his initial, bumbled attempt at a marriage of convenience proposal. I like the ways they challenge each other and show their support.

The Drew storyline gets a little... weird. I honestly think the story could've done without the extra special twist. It is a different perspective, but it didn't seem to completely fit in with the rest of the story.

I received an author's copy of the audio book. I really like the narrators, Mackenzie Cartwright and Shane East. It's made even better because they're in duet! 😍 🎧❤️🎧

This is another excellent addition to the series; this time, it's the turn of Connor Davenport to meet his match, and he does so with ER doctor Phoenix. She's James's sister, and they met when James asked Connor to check on her, because he hadn't heard from her in quite some time. After weeks of watching her, she and Connor finally meet in her ER. There's an instant attraction between them, and there and then, Connor decides that he'll do anything to get her to agree to be his.

I loved how the author introduced their backstories so we knew where each of them was coming from. It certainly helped to set the stage. They share common personality traits that complement each other and give their relationship purpose. I also like how Connor acknowledges his attraction and respect for Phoenix, aka Phe, and how his determination and gentle persistence eventually got him the response he wanted. It was great that he was able to read Phe’s subtle signals and understand her so well. Phe is a complicated character, carrying scars which only Connor seems able to heal. She's also fiercely independent, to the extent that she has isolated herself from everyone, work colleagues, friends and even family, hence James's initial request to Connor to check on her.

This book has multiple storylines which are seamlessly intertwined, and the supporting characters, most of whom seem like old friends now having devoured the earlier books in this series, add to the complexity and my enjoyment of Connor and Phoenix's journey and their love story, which are both tender and steamy.

The narration by Shane East and Mackenzie Cartwright is excellent and, in my opinion, could not have been improved upon.

You cannot go wrong when you put L. Steele and Shane East together. Story is perfect just the right amount of drama and Shane. No words the man can read a manual and make it sound like romance. L. Steel puts the words together in the perfect order. I have every one of her books. Perfect!!!
