For as long as I can remember, Lachlan West has been my brother’s best friend and the love of my life. Trouble is, he kissed me four years ago and then never spoke to me again. I was doing great pretending he doesn’t exist until I was assigned to write an article about former college athletes and I learn that the sexy single-dad is my first interview. Determined to wow my editor with an amazing sportsball piece. (Have I mentioned I know nothing about sports?) I head to Ember Falls, ready to face my fears—and the man I love.

The grumpy quarterback turned fireman wants nothing to do with me or my article. Yet, somehow I persuade him to let me follow him around for a few weeks, and even if he said yes just to get rid of me, I’ll take it. But the longer I stay in his small town, the more complicated our story gets. The boundaries we set fall to the ground—along with our clothes. He holds me like I matter, touches me like I’m cherished and kisses me like he loves me. We both know I have to leave Ember Falls, and he’ll never follow—I only wish I could write a different ending to our story.

I really like Lachlan, Ainsley and, Rose together. Lachlan and Ainsley have each secretly loved each other even when they were growing up next door to each other or when they were separated for four years because of a misunderstanding. I like everyone in the book and can't wait for the next book. Connor Crais and Vanessa Edwin really brought the story to life.

This was a great start to a new series! I adore Ainsley and Lachlan. They are a couple you root for. He’s the brother’s BF and they known each other for years while secretly pining. He’s the fire chief and a single dad. She’s a journalist who comes back to write a story on him. It’s a fun story with a great romantic plot. They both have issues when it comes to their fathers, and learning to grow and forgive things from their pasts. It was such a sweet read!

Enjoyable story. I loved this couple, they overcome a lot to reach their HEA. There’s something special about small town families, they love so fiercely and never afraid to get involved and tell you exactly what they think. All Too Well is a beautiful story full of love and d shenanigans.

Good story.

Story: 8/10
Spice: 3/5
Spice Hierarchy: Open Door
Narration: 4/5, dual

Lachlan is Ainsley’s brother’s best friend. And 4 years ago she kissed him. Now the single dad, firefighter, first round prospect is the subject of Ainsley’s upcoming article. Lachlan wants nothing to do Ainsley’s article.

While Ainsley was hurt by Lachlan’s disinterest, she still uses her sass and is unafraid to flirt with him now. And I loved that for her. Her feelings had been hurt years ago but she doesn’t fade in on herself around him now. Lachlan is a what you would expect of a small town firefighter. Even when others view him as a hero after a fire, he maintains he was simply doing his job. This type of humbleness is what he maintains until he has Ainsley 🥵

I loved the way this series is set up with each of the future MMC playing on a competitive Ultimate Frisbee league and being former high level athletes.

The banter and wittiness comes through the narration and it’s one of the reasons I love listening to audios.

Great set up for the series

If you’re a fan of Elsie Silver, Laura Pavlov, or just small-town romance in general, All Too Well is a must-read! I love a good small-town romance, but I prefer less angst and more banter, and this book delivers.

Ainsley Mackinley is a New York City reporter searching for her big break, but she’s stuck writing fluff pieces. Enter Lachlan West, her brother’s best friend, a former NFL star who traded the spotlight for small-town firefighting and fatherhood. The chemistry between these two is electric—plenty of banter, tension, and sizzling hook-ups. Plus, who can resist a single dad obsessed with his adorable, sassy kid?

This book is full of fun, witty dialogue, and heartwarming moments. The spice level is around 2.5 out of 5, and overall, I’d give this book 4 out of 5 stars. I can’t wait to revisit Ember Falls and its charming characters!

First of all the narrators did a wonderful job and I would definitely listen to them again. The story was very cute but pretty predictable. I was hoping there’d be a bit more firefighter action but it felt like the author was trying to give it more of a sports twist 😅

Over all a cute/cheesy small town single parent romance

I love Corinne’s books! This one was so cute and set up the Ember Falls series perfectly! I loved the dynamic between Lachlan, Ainsley, and Rose. It was also so fun to finally read a book that mentioned Virginia Beach or Norfolk! As for the narration, it was absolutely perfect!!

All Too Well, Ember Falls book 1 by Corrine Michaels
Narration by Connor Crais and Vanessa Edwin

Loved this brother’s best friend, small town romance that showcases Ember Falls.

There was lots of laughter in this book and Corinne writes small town like no other.❣️

Here we meet Ainsley or (Painsly 😝) who fell for Lachlan as they grew up together. She left after a failed attempt at starting something with her brother’s best friend years ago but now she’s back in town to see him again yet hoping not to fall for him again because it was hurtful to be turned down the last time. Lachlan was headed to football stardom but turned it all down for his daughter. Rose is a little gem in this story too.

These three were so meant to become a family and it was a sweet love story that melted my heart.

Connor Crais’ voice formed a picture of Lachlan in my mind that made him truly swoon worthy. Lachlan is a true friend to many, an amazingly caring dad to his daughter as a single parent and a hero who saves as a firefighter. What’s not to love about him except his notion that he doesn’t want to hold back Ainsley’s career.

Ainsley is a journalist who was striving to make a place in her career which brings her back to Ember Falls in hopes of writing a story about the Town hero Lachlan who had been headed to the big leagues yet turned it down to become a father and firefighter. She’s the perfect person to write about Lachlan and his friends who also had been top picks in their sports careers yet are now in this small town. It was hilarious she’s trying to write about sports and knows nothing about them. Her sense of humour is shown by Vanessa who portrays her in this story and brings her to life.

I can’t wait for all the other guys who are friends of Lachlan’s to find their own true loves, best of all there is more books in the series loaded on my Audible library!

Small town romance at its best!
