Extra-HARD love for this one!

LOVE! I loved this book when it was a novella, and I extra-HARD love it now that it's a full novel!! It's an over-the-top Christmas town, Sunshine vs. Scrooge escape from the real world! Also, I LOVE a good animal sidekick, and this one does NOT disappoint! If you want some extra holiday cheer this year, read Grump Hard - and the extra epilogues!!!

Emily and Oliver

Lili Valente always gives us books with wonderful characters and such lovely, enjoyable stories. This one introduces us to Oliver, aka Olly, and Emily, who is visiting London during the Christmas season, hoping to obtain the contract to plan a gala and secure some of the most sought-after vendors in London to ensure the future of her budding business.

Her flight from the US is bumpy, leaving her clothes stained with coffee and no time to change before her first crucial meeting with one of London's most prominent floral designers. The last thing she expected was for that meeting to go so badly awry, to find herself in the middle of a children's nativity play, and to destroy the floral manger designed by designer and ruin her chance of securing her help. Or that a storm would mean she’s forced to stay in the pub, drowning her sorrows, or to catch the eye of Oliver, a sexy British guy, whom she ends up going home with. She didn't expect that their incredible night together would result in her being splashed across the tabloids because he happens to be a British aristocrat, fifth in line to the throne! Olly wants to see her again and proposes a fake relationship which would benefit them both. His mother would stop trying to fix him up with a "suitable partner", and Emily could salvage her chance of planning the gala. But as they spend time together, the chemistry they shared on their first night bubbles back to the surface and can't be ignored.

This is a fun holiday rom-com from start to finish. Oliver is a sexy, swoon-worthy guy who, although an aristocrat, is down to earth. He was also generous and thoughtful, and I loved how committed he became to the relationship with Emily. Emily is a list maker, and her antics had me laughing out loud at times, from her bad luck on the plane to the way she made her entrance into the pub. I loved Emily; she's determined, fiercely independent and innovative, and she works hard to ensure the business is successful.

From their first night together, their chemistry sizzled, it was palpable and hot, and it was obvious that they were perfect for each other. The fake dating scheme was a perfect way for them to address the issues each of them was facing. I loved Oliver’s family, especially his Grandmother; she was adorable. I loved all their funny Christmas traditions, his grandmother's friends and their cute pets. Emily and Olly were perfect together, and I so enjoyed their story and being a fly on the wall for their journey, which had such a perfect ending.

This book is narrated by the author, Lili Valente, and Robert Hatchet, both of whom bring the characters and the story's feel to life so beautifully. Both of whom do an incredible job with the British accents.
