Story
It's Peretti's ultimate monster story. And this time, the monster is real. Miles away from the hectic city, Reed and Rebecca hike into the beautiful Northwestern woods. They're surrounded by gorgeous mountains, waterfalls, and hundreds of acres of unspoiled wilderness. But something - or someone - begins closing in on them. Something no human has ever seen. And it's killing everyone in its path without remorse.

Americans have built an empire on the idea of “race”, a falsehood that damages us all but falls most heavily on the bodies of Black women and men - bodies exploited through slavery and segregation and, today, threatened, locked up, and murdered out of all proportion. What is it like to inhabit a Black body and find a way to live within it? And how can we all honestly reckon with this fraught history and free ourselves from its burden? Between the World and Me is Ta-Nehisi Coates’ attempt to answer these questions in a letter to his adolescent son.

In the more than fifty violent conflicts going on worldwide, it is estimated that there are some 300,000 child soldiers. Ishmael Beah used to be one of them. How does one become a killer? How does one stop? Child soldiers have been profiled by journalists, and novelists have struggled to imagine their lives. Families are splintering around us, our children are becoming alienated from their great cultural heritage, and our leaders seem increasingly out of touch. Yet, according to Gordon B. Hinckley, president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, one cannot lose hope.

Do we love people like Jesus loves them?Jesus loved verbs. He loved action words such as live, come, rest, learn, hear, give, go, and even die. Wouldn’t it make sense that the people who claim to follow Jesus would love the same words Jesus loved?Unfortunately, somewhere along the way someone tried to make the word Christian an adjective. So now people speak of "Christian" books and "Christian" music and "Christian" schools.

Finding Grace is the powerful, often humorous, and deeply moving story of one woman's journey of broken dreams. It is the story of how a painful legacy of the past is confronted and met with peace. This book is for anyone who has struggled to understand why our desires---even the simplest ones---are sometimes denied or who has questioned where God is when we need Him most. This story is about one woman's unlikely road to motherhood. Finally, it's a book about the "undeserved gift which is life itself."

According to their Bill of Life, human life may not be terminated from the moment of conception until the age of 13. With a clear-eyed view of the inevitability of heartache and the power of God's faithfulness, Howard and Debbie remind us that no matter what our circumstances, we should never, ever, give up hope.

Story
Jim Daly, president and CEO of Focus on the Family, is an expert in fatherhood - in part because his own 'fathers' failed him so badly. His biological dad was an alcoholic. His stepfather deserted him. His foster father accused Jim of trying to kill him. All were out of Jim's life by the time he turned 13. Isn't it odd - and reminiscent of the hand of God - that the director of the leading organization on family turned out to be a guy whose own background as a kid and son were pretty messed up?

Maybe someone has made you believe a lie about who you are by speaking damaging words to you. Hello, My Name Is will inspire you not to wear the nametag that someone else gave you but to wear the name of who God says you are.

A gripping, personal story that will change you
Would you consider the audio edition of The Wounded Spirit to be better than the print version?
I haven't read the print version, but hearing the author tell this intensely person story in his own voice makes it even more impactful.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Wounded Spirit?
When Frank Peretti pleads with his live audience to pledge that THEY will stop bullying others.
What does Frank Peretti bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I would have missed the passion and the hurt in his voice of growing up with a birth injury that made his face and tongue the object of ridicule by his classmates. It wouldn't have had the same impact if I just read the words on the page.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Look at me -- Look at yourself -- Now look differently at others.

Stand on the Wall and be Noble..l loved it.
It made me think of the children from my childhood. Kids can be so cruel. Yet sometimes there is that one friend you never forget them or their kindness. All Children should be taught to Stand on the Wall and be Noble

something we all must hear
I truly believe Frank Peritti put his finger on the source of 80 or 90 percent of the tragedies in our culture. Please hear him. If you are wounded/disadvantaged seek help rather than become a wounder and if you are not wounded but have advantages others lack be noble and protect - don't wound! Please listen to this story and let it penetrate your heart.

Excellent Lessons for us all
This isn't a book per se. It is a tape of a speech he gave at a conference. He talks first about his life growing up. His life parallels what is going on today. The subject is so applicable to today's situation, especially in schools, where kids torment other kids. But the bigger lesson is that for all of us, words can hurt! I would recommend this to anyone, and if you can get your kids to listen, even better.

Heart Wrenching
An excellent presentation for those who are the abuser and those who have been abused. I am going to present it to our adults and young kids who work with abused kids. One thing I would like to say, the bullies are not just the young people they are also adults.
