Someone should tell Tate Brewer that one-night stands aren’t supposed to come with a sequel.

I’ve learned the hard way—don’t be reckless with anything, least of all my heart. But after one too many vodka sodas, saying yes to a much younger, devastatingly smooth stranger for one wild night seems like the perfect way to forget my brutal divorce. I even gave him a fake name. What could go wrong?

You’d be surprised.

Because instead of being my spicy little secret, Tate is now the chief marketing officer at my new job. He’s determined to prove our night together was only the beginning—and he has the tools to do it.

Chiseled jaw. Washboard abs. Effortless charm. He’s as sinful as he is sweet and knows exactly how to get under my skin and melt my defenses.

I wanted a one-night stand. Instead, I got a “situation.”

This was my first Adriana Locke audiobook and I don’t usually read a series out of order but I gave this ALC and now I have to get the first four in this series to listen too.

Excellent

Oh Tate. The wildest of the Brewer bunch has finally met his match and boy does she throw him for a loop. But admittedly so, he does the same for her.
Aurora is a twice divorced 40 year old woman who is starting her life over again with a new job and a newly found sense of independence, and determined to make something safe and constant of her life. So when she meets Tate, she fights every feeling radiating through her bones that this man is something special and in a league of his own entirely. Determined not to be wooed by his charisma and god-like physique, she realizes quickly that putting this man in his place will be so satisfying. Giving him a fake name and unfiltered opinions, she throws him off and makes him squirm, but her demeanor only intrigues him more and they can't seem to stay away from one another. After a dinner full of the thickest tension, they decide on one night together. Aurora has every intention of never seeing him again, but Tate is convinced that he just met the love of his life and will do anything to make her stay.
After they part ways, they can't stop thinking about each other, fate has other plans and he ends up becoming her direct superior and boss at her new job. With all the secrets out and the chemistry still blazing hot, the forced proximity only makes it harder not to cave into his charms. Aurora puts up a good fight, but their connection wins out and they can't help but crash into one another and never let go. But with Aurora still apprehensive after her past relationship trauma and Tate determined to fast track their forever, these two can't seem to find themselves moving that the same pace and have to learn to navigate those differences as best they can and still make it together. Watching both of these characters have self-growth while pursuing a relationship together felt so relatable. Sometimes the growing pains have to happen in the moment and not before or after, forcing vulnerability, understanding and compromise into their relationship as they navigate embarking on this next chapter together. Its a beautiful conclusion to their story and to the Brewer family series in general.
Lance Greenfield and Janine Granda were fantastic on this title. Lance is one of my favorite narrators and his performance here was no different. He always delivers for me. This was my first title with Janine and she was wonderful! I am excited to listen to more of her work.

The onIy way the narration could have been better was if Janine read all the female characters and Lance read all the male characters. I want my very own Tate. Saying that, I don't necessarily mean the money, but the way he loves Aurora. Yes, he can be a brat when he doesn't get his way, and is sometimes oblivious about how life works for those who don't have his money, but he is always true to his feelings for her. And I love that Mimi can and does call him out on his crap, but also tells him plainly to fix it and how he might do that.

I have been waiting for Tate to get his HEA, and this did not disappoint. I loved the witty banter between him and Aurora. The fact that she was strong, independent, knew what she wanted and made him work for her was great. Tate had always had it easy with the ladies, but now he wants permanent over now, and Aurora only wants one night, she is getting over a messy divorce.

Adriana always writes fantastic books and this, while being bittersweet because it is the final book in the series, brought the laughter, family, friends, and everything else you would expect from Adriana. I will miss the shenanigans of the family and the text thread, but can’t wait to see what is in store for us next.

The narrators did a fantastic job bringing the characters to life.

I received an ARC and this is my honest, voluntary review.
