Publisher's summary

A killer is putting the mangled, lifeless bodies of prostitutes on display in sleepy Northeast Tennessee.

The murderous spree is accelerating.

Two detectives, Lukas Miller from Johnson City and Brooke Stevens from Kingsport, have been assigned to hunt the killer down and stop him. Miller and Stevens are considered the best in their respective departments, and although they've never met, their superiors order them to work together in a coordinated effort to put an end to the violence as quickly as possible. Their reputations, and perhaps their careers, are on the line.

As the body count grows, Lukas and Brooke find themselves growing more and more desperate to catch a cunning psychopath who delights in painting their terrified towns red with blood. Will Lukas and Brooke finally end the nightmare? Or will the hunters become the hunted?

"Pratt's richly developed characters are vivid and believable...." (Publishers Weekly)

Intriguing

Very “on-the-edge” story. The reader carries you into the story. The author’s descriptive writing makes you feel you are there.

Another great Scott Pratt mystery

This is the first in what was undoubtedly a planned series by the late Scott Pratt. Perhaps Mark Stout will be able to continue the story of these two likeable main characters. I’d love to read/listen to more narrated by the excellent Tim Campbell. Treat yourself to this very enjoyable mystery certain to please Pratt’s followers and many new listeners as well.

OK, I'm hooked! Where's Book 2?

Sympathetic protagonists, good plot, hateful villain. All the makings of a good police procedural novel with a mystery on the front end, and a satisfying conclusion.

exceeded my expectations@

I loved this book. As a Scott Pratt fan, I didn't know what to expect with a co written book. I was not disappointed! This was a well written book that kept my attention. I'm looking forward to book 2.

Top notch Pratt

If you love a good whodunnit with nasty and lovable characters thrown together in awkward situations, this murder muster is for you. Not too long, which is refreshing; and not boring at all. There are no slow sections. You learn about the history of the people and locations of incidents as you need to without a separate chapter on what kind of grades he or she got in elementary school and how green the grass is and the low or high humidity. You find out and hear about these things as additional info along the way. It does contribute to setting of the scenes without making too much of it.

While reading this book, back and forth on audio and in print, I was looking forward to book 2. Forward to book two. Needless to say I was very sorry to learn Mr Scott Pratt passed away and this may be his last book. It is book 1 so I truly hope that book 2 was completed before his demise. Tom Campbell and Scott Pratt were an absolutely wonderful author/narrator team. I would always whisper sync each book on his series to get the best of both worlds. Lukas and Brooke are two characters I would love to get to know more of, they have great chemistry together and it would be a great tribute to the Pratt legacy to have one more book. Rip Mr. Pratt.
