From the New York Times best-selling author of the "pulse-quickening" (Good Housekeeping UK) In a Dark, Dark Wood and The Woman in Cabin 10 comes Ruth Ware's highly anticipated third novel, featuring her signature "verve and energy" (Library Journal).

On a cool June morning, Isa Wilde, a resident of the seemingly idyllic coastal village of Salten, is walking her dog along a tidal estuary. Before she can stop him, Isa's dog charges into the water to retrieve what first appears to be a wayward stick - and to her horror, Isa discovers it's not a stick at all...but a human bone. As her three best friends from childhood converge in Salten to comfort a seriously shaken-up Isa, terrifying discoveries are made, and their collective history slowly unravels.

Tackling the slipperiness of memories, the relativity of truth, and the danger of obsessive friendships, The Lying Game is a gripping mystery with compelling characters and electric prose, resulting in a can't-stop-listening thriller.

That baby sounds like a nightmare, always " furious". And the whole " lie" was nowhere near the drama it got. But the story was interesting.

So over dramatic

A good thriller full of twists and turns. I will admit I did not like it as much as her previous novels.

Good thriller

I loved the book, but didn't like the way Luka and Kate died. They could have made different choices but then I think of the consequences for their lies. A good book to listen to. and as usual Imogen is a great narrator, I'm stuck with her and cannot listen to other people after listening to her. The way she imitates the sounds of the characters is great. I wish she reads more books.

I loved it

This was a captivating book from the beginning. Usually I find it fairly easy to predict the ending but this one did have a few unexpected twists. The story line kept me engaged and the narrator was great.

Worth the listen

The on and on about the daughter added nothing to the storyline…would have like to have seen Mary character built out more, and Luke and Kate. Narration was very good…

Could be so much better!!

I love Ruth Ware. And I liked the overall premise of this story. But the lead character, Issa Wilde, is beyond obnoxious and irritating. She’s unlikeable in pretty much every way. And she’s a terrible helicopter mom. No actual mother would take their six month old on this journey—a dead body, a firetrap of a house that is falling into the sea, an alcoholic criminal who is angry, and multiple train trips across hours a day. I get that Ware May have been trying to make a statement about the power of women and Moms and all that, but Issa pushes her baby across sinking bogs in terrible weather in the dark alone multiple times.

Also, the ending to this story is laughable. After all they go through and lose, nobody learns anything. They just stay the same terrible people.

Ugh. What a waste of 13 hours.

Imogen Church was flawless in her narration, as always.

A terrible protagonist and her annoying baby

I have read all of Ruth Ware’s novels (or listened to the audio books). I love how suspenseful her stories are… she is so good at leading up to the final reveal. She is such a great writer of mystery novels/psychological thrillers that I find myself excited to read whatever she comes up with. This one was a little harder for me to get into than her others, but once I did— I was captured, just like always. Usually, I can figure out the end of suspense stories, but for some reason I am never able to do so with Ruth’s books — including this one. I honestly don’t understand the bad reviews at all. Just people who are used to immediate gratification and done like to be taken on a suspenseful ride that keeps you on it for awhile.

I absolutely love Ruth Ware Novels!

I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of this book. The narrator did an amazing job bringing life to the authors words. The author did an amazing job of creating characters to love and hate. I was definitely left guessing many times throughout the book. The author did a great job building suspense, making me find times to sneak away so I could see what was going to happen next.

Amazing ride full of plot twists and turns!

I liked the book, but had a few problems with it. First of all, it’s too descriptive at times. It makes you want to scream at them to get to the point. Second of all, I understand being young and confused, but many of their actions was just plain stupid. And you could understand them making a few of them, but not all of them. And after you grow up and have a child or family of your own, I would really hope you wouldn’t continue to make those very stupid choices. I know everyone makes mistakes, but come on! Okay, I’m going to stop there. It was a good plot, I just feel it could’ve been carried out better.

Good story
