Mel Robbins’ Let Them is nothing short of transformational. This book profoundly changed how I view my role in relationships and life, giving me clarity and freedom I didn’t realize I desperately needed. Robbins’ insights on letting go of the need to rescue, please, or overextend ourselves for others hit home in a way that was both healing and empowering.
One of the book’s most powerful messages is the reminder that I am not a savior, not God, and I don’t need to take on the responsibility of being everything to everyone. As someone who is neurodivergent, I’ve spent much of my life worrying about what others think of me, trying to please them, and overanalyzing my actions. Robbins’ words gave me the breakthrough I needed: I don’t have to rescue everyone. I don’t have to fix everything. I don’t have to prove my worth through my sacrifices.
This book helped me realize how often I’d taken on the emotional weight of protecting others—trying to shield them from harm or abuse, or stepping in to help when it wasn’t my responsibility. Robbins explains so clearly how this overzealous need to help can backfire. My heart was in the right place, but this book taught me that stepping back and allowing others to take responsibility for themselves is not only freeing but necessary.
The insights in Let Them helped me process and release the grief, confusion, and pain from scenarios where I had held on too tightly or tried to force solutions. It taught me the power of letting others be who they are, letting situations unfold, and freeing myself from the exhausting pressure to control or rescue. Robbins’ words have been a game-changer, not just for me, but for everyone I’ve shared this book with.
Let Them is more than just a book; it’s a guide to reclaiming peace and understanding that it’s not my job to save everyone. I am so grateful for Mel Robbins and this breakthrough she’s given me. I can’t recommend this book enough—it’s a life-changing blessing.
I wish I had this book in my twenties because it would have saved me so much heartache.
To stop being a people pleaser and a rescuer

I have began implementing this already…and it’s VERY simple…just not easy. Mel made this clear throughout the book, and I nodded along…but once I tried it…I realized just how emotionally weighed down I have been…about OTHER people! As Mel says…it’s a work in progress, and will require a lot of practice…but my goodness…it sure feels good to shed some of that “weight” that has little to no affect on your own life.
Thanks Mel…this is a masterpiece.
