In the secluded Dutch territory of Sleepy Hollow, nebbish schoolmaster Ichabod Crane competes with the town hero for the hand of Katrina Van Tassel, the 18-year-old daughter and sole child of a wealthy farmer. As Crane leaves a party at the Van Tassel's farm one autumn evening, he is pursued by the Headless Horseman, an apparition said to be the ghost of a Hessian trooper snuffed out by a stray cannonball during the Revolutionary War.

Treasures Of Jolly Autumn

A free fun Halloween listen from Audible of a famous short story about ghosts and the greedy Ichabod. First published in 1820 the story is brought vibrantly to life by this excellent narration. Tom Mison makes this a complete winner. Really well done!

This is well-loved classic and knows the story, of course, so it's all about the performance, and Tom Mison is perfection. He has a perfect voice for audiobooks, and his acting ability makes his reading soar. Loved it.

What a lovely idea to recruit Tom Mison, who stars as Ichabod Crane on Fox TV's hit series Sleepy Hollow, to narrate Washington Irving's famous short story. And, he does a wonderful job! He reads with clarity and wit and makes the characters, especially Ichabod Crane, come alive.

It's great to hear this classic story without the additions or deletions of the Hollywood know-it-alls. It's great just as it is. If you enjoy the TV show, you will recognize where some of the characters were derived.

Tom Mison, who portrays Ichabod Crane in the TV series, reads masterfully. It seems as if Washington Irving himself could be reading his story. He would be great reading any poetry or prose from the classics.

I couldn't really find anything to complain about in either the story or the reading of it. An easy five stars!
