Story
Elle, an accomplished baker, has a recipe for every event in her life. But when she discovers her husband’s infidelity, she doesn’t know what to make of it. Jam, maybe? Definitely jam. Fed up with the stale crumbs of her marriage, Elle revisits past recipes and the events that inspired them. A recipe for scones reminds her of her father’s death, cinnamon rolls signify the problematic courtship with her husband, and a batch of chocolate cookies casts Elle in a less-than-flattering light. Looking back, Elle soon realizes that some ingredients were missing all along.

Loved it
This was a fun story- It was a local version of survivor with all the drama it entails. It was fun, quirky and sweet with a little romance thrown in. Not a steamy read but a fun rainy day read! I enjoyed it.
Narration was great- no complaints!

The Leftover, should not be left over
This is the first book I have read form Miss Williams. I highly enjoyed it. I found it to be well-written suspenseful and funny in some parts. I love the characters and I found them to be very well-written. I've never been one to watch reality TV decide wasn't quite sure if I would like this or not I've never seen an episode of survivor. Though from my understanding this is not exactly like survivor but I liked this book and enough that I may just check out the series well done.
I also thought that April did a fantastic job near reading this to me.

When love was not expected
This book is everything.
Its based on an average girl that is shy and awkward that goes on a Survivor type show when her sister can not.
The show is everything that Megan is not, Social, Athletic, Adventurous and devious.
But Megan goes in with an open mind and not only finds herself and her confidence but manages to find love as well.
The plot twists are perfectly timed the store paced just right.
I love this book because it is something I can relate to and a character I can see myself as.

I LOVED IT!!!
I found this to be a sweet and humorous listen. I loved the banter between characters and thought the narrator performed distinguishable voices for the various characters. The story was original and flowed well. I would listen to more books by both the author and narrator. I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review. The steam level in this book is low while the chemistry was well done which I found refreshing and a change.

Review
This is a great story , I have watched a few of these competitions on tv and that helped to bring my imagination to life. It added to my enjoyment of the story. There was so much that was good and kind in the interaction between most of the competitors. There are always some that are mean and will do anything to win. The presenters rely on that to make a popular show. I think the author did well and described exactly the scene on one of these shows. Love often does develop due to close proximity and length of time together.
The presenter did a very good job reading the story and really enhanced my enjoyment. I spent a very pleasant day with this book it is really good.

A fabulously funny romance to relish!
One problem I faced which might not be an issue for you is that I listen to audiobooks while walking from place to place. I bet you don't get what I am on about. This book had me laughing. Out loud. Without warning. (I am pretty sure fellow pedestrians thought I was off my rocker.)
You cannot help but love Megan. She literally personifies the insecurities most women face in some form. She is a glasses-wearing, shy, insecure, slightly clumsy, highly intelligent, painfully honest, socially awkward introvert. Through no desire or effort of her own she finds herself a contestant on a Survivor like TV show, the Leftover. She does not have the skills to deal with most of the physical tests but she more than makes up for it with the mental stamina to strategically work through the challenges. The remaining contestants are very interesting and she quickly forms her own posse with three others as they fight to reach the end line.
And Cane.... ooo lala! He is the sensitive, hot, seemingly confident but actually not, paramedic on the show. He comes with medical knowledge and experiential wisdom of being on a TV show himself as well as a little baggage in the romance department. His past promises to present an obstacle.
There is an instant connect of the unusual kind between the two protagonists. Considering the book only features a few kisses, the reader can still feel the palpable chemistry igniting between the two as the plot thickens. The humour, action, conversation and description takes care of the rest.
I hadn't ever read Brooke Williams books before but I am already looking forward to the next. This was pure entertainment and romantic comedy escapism!
This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.
