In the thrilling conclusion to the Egyptian-inspired Scorched Throne duology, a fugitive queen must risk everything and everyone she loves for the chance to restore her lost kingdom of Jasad.

Held deep in a mountain refuge, Sylvia has been captured by the Urabi, who believe the Jasad Heir can return their homeland to its former power. But after years of denying her legacy and a forbidden alliance with Jasad’s greatest enemy, Sylvia must win the Urabi’s trust while struggling to hide the dangerous side effects her magic is having on her mind.

In a rival kingdom, Arin must maneuver carefully between his father's desire to put down the brewing rebellion and the sacred edicts Arin is sworn to uphold. He is determined to find Sylvia before it's too late, but Arin's search unravels secrets that threaten the very core of his beliefs about his family and the destruction of Jasad.

War is inevitable, but Sylvia cannot abandon her people again. The Urabi plan to raise the Jasadi fortress, and it will either kill Sylvia or destroy the humanity she's fought so hard to protect. For the first time in her life Sylvia doesn’t just want to survive. She wants to win.

The fugitive queen is ready to reign.

Critic reviews

“A remarkable, razor-sharp debut that cuts straight to the heart. Steeped in intrigue, tension, and dangerous magic, The Jasad Heir is a thrilling read that held me captive past its heart-pounding ending.”—Chelsea Abdullah, author of The Stardust Thief

The Jasad Heir takes familiar fantasy plot elements—a destroyed kingdom; a hidden heir to the lost throne—and gives them a thrilling extra layer of political complexity. The slow burn between protagonist and antagonist will have you turning pages in a frenzy. Sara Hashem is a talent to watch!”—Shelley Parker-Chan, author of She Who Became the Sun

"A stunning fantasy debut that deftly examines the burdens of political responsibility. With a morally complex heroine and an incomparable enemies-to-lovers arc, The Jasad Heir is a compelling tale of self-discovery, found family, and the meaning of justice."—Hadeer Elsbai, author of The Daughters of Izdihar

Of the series overall: It is lovely to dive into a fantasy world not based in European mythology or magic! FMC is uber powerful and doesn’t get nerfed in the way other popular series tend to do when their FMC gets too godlike. More detail is given to the gore than the romance. I found the characters are memorable and many have solid archs that felt worth following to the end.

Audio: Did not love the MMC voice actor but I honestly never do anyway. Definitely wouldn’t have pronounced anything correctly if I’d read it printed. Listening to proper nouns pronounced by the voice actors added to the richness of the world, I think.

Well almost the perfect ending. I agree with previous reviewers, I did want a longer prologue.
There were so many twists that I didn’t see most coming. The last two hours had me in tears the entire time. I absolutely love this book. It’s beautiful, heartbreaking and absolutely addictive.

I love this series! The story was a refreshing change to the normal fae fantasy books and the level of detail in describing everything from the people and places, to the foods and gods is fantastic!! I’m so sad I finished these books because it was my addiction the last little while. I couldn’t put the books down or stop listening to the audio book. I wish I could read it again for the first time! Highly recommend!!!

This duo completely stole my heart. I laughed, I cringed, I paced the floors… I sobbed uncontrollably.
It was beautiful and tragic and just artful. The depth to these characters is a marvel in itself. It will be a hard story to let go of

Audiobook make fantasy books so much better for me! I loved this one. This is the second and final book in the duology. I love the banter and the yearning between Arin and Sylvia continue to be the best part of the book. Sylvia continues to fight to restore her kingdom and protect her people and her friends. I found the plot and magic system a great part of this book. However, the beginning was a little slow for me and slightly hard to follow. However I still loved the book and characters. The epilogue was everything!!

That ending!!!

It was so good. Highly recommend, my only complaint is I wanted a bit more of an epilogue. The ending is beautiful and it fits with the book perfectly. Just I could have used more details but I’ll hold out hope for a novella or short story :) it’s very good, highly recommend.

Great conclusion
