Publisher's Summary

They say opposites attract. Someone needs to tell that to Emerson Scott.

Gavin

All I ever wanted was to play ball. When an act of sheer stupidity took that dream away, I thought I’d never bounce back. But now, I have the opportunity to coach an up-and-coming phenom, and I'm giving it all I've got. The fact that I've been lusting after his smoking-hot sister only sweetens the deal. Emerson may be buttoned up like a school librarian, but I play my best when I’m under pressure...and I always bring the heat.

Emerson

Never lose focus. Never lose control. Those are the first two rules in my carefully calculated plan for success. Finding myself thrown into the role of guardian for my little brother was not part of that plan. But I can adjust for Jay’s sake. I’m not about to let one change make me lose sight of my goals. Too bad Jay’s hot young baseball coach doesn’t seem to give a fig about my plans. He has one of his own - and it includes me. Gavin Monroe may play like a pro, but that boy will never win this game.

The forth story in a great series

Finally we get Gavins story. Gavin had a dream that sho close he could taste it, until he made a very big mistake that ruined his chances forever. For the longest time he wallowed in sadness until finally he decided to do something about it. Emerson a young lawyer who wants to give her younger brother a stable place to live and finish high school. Turns out he’s a young baseball phenom just like Gavin was. A great romcom with laughs and tough feelings it perfect.

Good Fun Read!

This was a fun contemporary romance that has the feels that makes it a good read. It will keep you glued to your reader because you will want to know what happens with Gavin and Emerson. This is a first for me from this author and this series but I was not lost in the story at all. I will go back and read the others because I want more and I want to read more about Gavin's past. I listened to the audible version and enjoyed Kelsey Navarro (Narrator).

Such a cute story!

Although an injury benched Gavin's dreams of a major league career, his talent sends him onto a new path, turning his world upside down. Well actually I think he turned Emerson's world upside down in truth. Emerson certainly never expected to fall for her brother's baseball coach but fate had other plans and although they both thought their love had been struck out, they ended up with a home run in the end. Such a cute baseball love story!

Excellent Audible book

I asked to receive this free review Audible book and wrote this unbiased review. This is a fun book to listen to and also contains some serious issues. Gavin has moved on from his depression after an accident ruins his career. Emmie has devoted most of her time to her career. Gavin plans on winning her over, but she has other plans. It's fun to watch her try to ignore her sexual desire for him. Their friends are more than happy to help and advise them. Lol The narrator does an excellent job of portraying the emotions and personalities of these characters. She captures the frustrations that Emmie experiences. The narrator is easy to listen to and enjoy. I highly recommend this Audible book. 🎧audiobookobsession 🎧

A clear contender for best in series

The intro for this book was lackluster and I was worried that this book would not be enjoyable, but I was determined to keep going because I loved the first two books. Then I started this one and I was BLOWN AWAY! It was fun, the lackluster intro in the previous book was totally turned into a "she was meant for me" thing and I laughed, and cried, and was amazed at how many issues they had to overcome in order be together. Yet, the relationship rang as true and right immediately. The narrator was very good and you could feel both of their frustrations as issues arose. You could also feel the heat. Bottom line: YOU MUST READ/LISTEN TO THIS BOOK!!

Love it

Emerson is trying to do her best to vie for the position of partner in the law firm she worked for. she works longer and harder, just to prove herself. Gavin Monroe, a baseball college athlete. lost his chance to play, when he had a motorcycle accident. but he was still treated as the hometown hero.I Emerson was.the.dutiful.daughter that always tries to please her stoic father. Everything is about appearances to him. That included, friends, associate, clothes and a prestigious job. This is a older woman, younger man romance. Gavin knew Emerson was the one for him, but Emerson thought that being older wouldn't work out. Kelsey Navarro narration is flawless 🎧audiobookobsessionreviewer🎧

There's no stopping this Alpha male 💕

Gavin won't take no for an answer when trying for a date with Emmy and she is running out of ideas. I thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook as it is full of the hilarious characters found in this great series. Laughed at Gavin's reaction when his brother-in-law ( Nate) asked him if his sister would like a baby! " Don't ask me man!!! And please don't talk about that kind of stuff to me!!" The narrator did a fabulous job of bringing the story and the characters to life. I highly recommend this book.

Home run

I just LOVE this series and this latest offering is just as appealing as the ones before it. I laughed until I cried and it was wonderful to catch up with all the friends from previous novels. The storyline was brilliant and each and every character is soooooo vivid you feel as if you're right there with them.

This book will capture your heart

Emerson finds herself taking care of her brother. She is very responsible and knows what she wants. She has no room for romance with all of her aspirations. Gavin finds an opportunity to coach up and coming players. Gavin sets his sights on Jay and he will need permission from his guardian to coach him. When Gavin meets Emerson, things start to heat up. Gavin sets his sights on Emerson and nothing will stop him. The push and pull between these two kicks up the laughter. This was such a fun story. I loved the family vibe it had, and how responsible Emerson is. It really touched my heart how at such a young age she could stand up and are so much for her sibling. This has to be my favorite book of Sylvie Stewart. I love her writing, but this one really captured my heart. Kelsey Navarro is amazing in her performance. Emerson is such a strong character and Kelsey brings her to life. Kelsey narrates Gavin exactly as I imagined him. I love how she narrated the banter between Gavin and Emerson and had me in stitches. Kelsey has an easy to listen to voice, and is easy to follow. Her narration enhanced the overall experience of this story.

Awesome story!!!

I loved this book! The characters are like able and interesting, and oh so fun to read about!! The subject matter, however, had me cheering on Emerson all of the way (and cussing out her father several times)!!! If you love stories about strong women and how they overcome parents who project standards on them rather than supporting them well, this is one!! This is excellent!!! Sylvie Stewart wrote a wonderful story of love and of a woman who’s priorities getting realigned to her own expectations rather than someone else’s. Kelsey Navarro is an excellent voice artist and did a great job with this one!!! #AudiobookObsession

Sweet Fun

Totally fell for this romantic comedy. I'm not a sports person but I loved this audiobook. It had just the right amount. Really felt like I knew the hero and understood what he'd been through. love has no age

great story of falling in love with a younger man. I enjoyed this story of Emerson and Gavin. He may be 24 but doesn't act like it. It is like he has an old soul. He spots Emerson at a restaurant. He knows she is the one. Emerson is a lawyer and 5 years older. she is so busy trying to move up the corporate business ladder. she doesnt see that love is right there in front of her. Things happen to her and she soon realizes where her priorities land. great characters, story line and just some funny moments. Kelsey is an amazing narrator. she nails the characters and emotions.. highly recommend .. this Author is new to me and I'm going to read the other books in this series. 🎧audiobook obsession reviewer

Enjoyable continuation of this series

This was a enjoyable continuation of this series. Great to meet new characters and for old characters to reappear. I enjoyed the storyline and development of the relationship between Gavin and Emerson. The book was humorous, even making my husband laugh when he entered the room and over heard some of the book as I was listening. I have always struggled with the narration of the books a bit, taking me a while to get used to the accent as I'm not from the US. However I think this narration was my favourite so far.

10 stars - Listen to the Audible version

This was the first book I've read/listened to by Sylvie Stewart, but I liked it so much that I've actually already binged the rest of the series after listening to this one. There are characters from other books that appear frequently in this one, but The Game does stand alone and I didn't feel like I had missed important events by listening to this one first. However, after reading the others, Gavin is actually a significant character in the prior books. This is still my favorite book of the series, but I think it's because Kelsey Navarro's performance really makes the book come alive and I just read the others. It's written and performed in a casual, conversational style that makes it fun to listen to. I liked both her male and female voices. She included lots of emotion and differences in volume that worked really well with the author addressing the reader/listener directly. I've actually listened to it more than once, and if I could give it more than 5 stars I would. The Game has some great funny moments for my kind of humor (does wine count as juicing?) and I was disappointed when the kids got home from school and I had to turn it off (it's not PG humor). #AudiobookObsession
