Publisher's summary

She sparkles. He growls. Baring their true feelings could be the start of a wild love story—or the end of it—in a sexy romantic comedy by a USA Today bestselling author.

One spilled glass of wine and bridesmaid Ensley James is ejected from a country club wedding in the rain. Ensley looks on the bright side. That would be her longtime crush Drew Daniels. The moody, broody, skin-pricklingly sexy groomsman is tossed out with her. Waiting out a hot spring storm in a cozy shed for two, it’s time for Drew’s confession: he’s strictly a one-nighter. Ensley’s dare? Give her three date nights and see where it goes.

A veterinarian like Drew is great when it comes to puppy love, but he has his reasons for his rules about women: no true feelings, just flings. So why agree to Ensley’s three-date challenge? Easy. Miss Ray of Freaking Sunshine is absolutely irresistible. Night after night, Ensley and Drew can’t ignore the heat, the growing intimacy—and the unexpected complications. Drew’s walls may be crumbling, but Ensley’s still at risk of being another tryst.

Especially with Ensley’s final confession. This one could be their rockiest challenge yet.

Critic reviews

“An enjoyable rom-com from Knight about childhood friends suddenly reconnecting, then turning into something much more substantial.” Library Journal

“Dogs aren’t the only ones panting for this saucy romance between a brooding veterinarian and his upbeat receptionist. The Wedding Confession is immensely enjoyable and the perfect combo of heat and heart.” —Jennifer Bardsley, author of Sweet Bliss

The Wedding Confession is an absolute delight! Ensley and Drew’s chemistry is electric from their very wet meet cute and it just gets better from there. Another JJ Knight book you won’t want to miss.” —Addie Woolridge, Amazon Bestselling author of The Checklist

sweet story

Drew & Ensley: triggers: domestic abuse, child abandonment. Despite the triggers, this was just a cute story. It has some funny moments but nothing that will make you shed a tear. After being kicked out of a wedding both Ensley and Drew get trapped in a shed because if a storm. From there everything changes. Ensley has had a crush on Drew since she was twelve and he was her brother's best friend. Now she's stuck in a shed with him. One thing I have to say about Ensley is that she's annoyingly talkative but it's only annoying because Drew is absolutely the complete opposite so you hear her voice more than his. Drew is very closed off and grumpy, especially at his vet practice. Ensley challenges him to go on three dates, breaking his one night stand rule and he accepts. This book is so hot 🔥 but yet adorably cute (because of the fur babies). These two are crazily perfect for each other only they don't really know it or understand it or can't confirm it if that makes sense. But kudos to Ensley for going for what she wants.

Perfect, short romantic comedy!

I picked up this audiobook after reading several dark romance and books with very heavy/disturbing themes, and it was exactly what I needed as a good brain cleanser. The narrators did an incredible job with the story, and the author laid everything out perfectly; nothing felt rushed in the relationship. I really connected a lot with Drew over his somewhat grumpy attitude towards humans, but his super soft side when it comes to animals. Ensley’s character also connected with me on a deep level since I’ve worked as a bank teller in the past, and I rarely see that profession in the books I read. I cannot wait for book 2 (The Wedding Shake Up) to release later this year in September 2023!

Swoony and healing romance

The banter. The sexual tension. The anticipation. The near misses. The secrets. The feels. I loved it all. Drew and Ensley’s brother’s best friend, grump-sunshine, teenage crush, confirmed bachelor, boss-employee was a beautiful romance of all the things. It’s a heartwarming, funny, and steamy romance full of lovable and relatable characters with all the feels - laughing, crying, swooning, cringing, teeth gritting, and cheering. Ensley grew up without a mother and very poor. She is used to protecting herself and her loved ones. Drew was Ensley’s brother’s best friend and her idea of the perfect knight. They haven’t seen each other in years when they both end up as part of the bridal party for their friends’ wedding and then both get kicked out of the wedding. Thus begins the sparks, the confessions, the reconnecting, and the deal for three dates. To get to their HEA they both are going to have to do a lot of baggage unpacking and be willing to take some leaps of faith even though they’re very scary. The story was well written and included witty dialogue, three dimensional characters who grow, and an engaging storyline all told through sweet moments, steamy scenes, chuckles, supportive friends, messy families, painful pasts, character missteps, and heart squeezing love. 4.5 stars.

Laurie West and Stephen Borne did a phenomenal job narrating the story and characters into life with enough change of inflection, tone and cadence to voice multiple characters quite convincingly. I really love the added dimension listening brings to a story.

Great story

Took a min to get use the the narration, but because it’s bad but just not the voices I hear the most. I really enjoyed the story line and am excited to see what the next book is !

good story, though feel was rushed near end
narration was ok - just prefer main characters' voice remain same in each chapter
