LEARN—PROGRESS—SURVIVE

Jason and his friends just wanted to spend a week at the lake house. Time to relax, hang out, and catch up on old times. Then the System arrived.

It only took a few hours for their world to become a real-life roleplaying game; trading some downtime for the need to learn new skills and powers while trying to defend their new home, their families, and survive.

They don’t know the rules. They don’t know what’s coming next. What they do know is; they need to reinforce and expand their fort while protecting it, keep leveling up, and explore a dangerous new world.

Jason and his friends have no choice but to grow as a team in this base-building LitRPG that kicks off a new series.

Great story, loved the characters

I usually dont go for base building litrpgs, but I am glad I listened to this one. the characters worked together flawlessly. Which is quite refreshing, to be honest, I am way too used to betrayal in litrpg, instead I get real friendships which was honestly great. The story had a steady pace and I honestly look forward to listening to it again. Great job all around.

It is too strict with the rules of the new world

Overall the story was 4 out of 5 stars. I love base building and when I saw the preview of this I knew I had to read it.

I am not sure if I will read the 2nd after this one. I’m not sure if the narrator wasn’t good enough or if it was just a dry story.

The story automatically gets into the thick of it with the base building, almost too much so. The shock/drama of their world turning into a litrpg didn’t phase this group of dnd veterans. It’s glazed passed so fast they immediately get into the day to day. And most of the story goes over the day highlights of what they accomplished almost like it’s an RTS game.

Something that was too strict was the way they got skills and could only pick from five assigned classes. Didn’t seem like a ton of options. They also couldn’t initiate combat from too far away or it wouldn’t count against the mob. Just kinda felt like that would nerf the creativeness of someone that thinks outside the box.

I like it! reminds me of WoW

This story offers a refreshing departure from the typical RPG narrative, taking on a World of Warcraft-style fighting system that's rich in strategic depth. The characters' struggles feel authentic, as the system doesn't hand them unwarranted advantages. The captivating world-building, engaging narration, and well-paced storyline have been a source of solace during my recovery from COVID. I highly recommend this tale to fellow World of Warcraft enthusiasts and those who appreciate base building elements. Personally, I eagerly anticipate the release of the second book. This story is definitely worth a listen.

Good Litrpg building audio

Some good accents and voices. I did skip the stat and skill readings at times. I am looking forward to the next book. Good job!

amazing

I'm really loving this book. The RPG apocalypses are very fun to listen to. The characters are so well written, and the interaction between the MC and his friends is fun and hilarious. And though the storyline is a little cliché, it's very well executed.

Too easy

To be fair, I only made it to chapter 4 before deciding to move on so take this review with a grain of salt seeing I didn't finish the whole story. The writing reads smoothly but isn't near immersive enough for my taste, nor are the character reactions believable. it's like, oh wow, we're in Apocalypse. We have game stats. Let me create a fireball now type of reaction. I want to see more disbelief shock and Trauma. More testing and caution. We really need to get into the character's head and feelings on a deep and fundamental way. More showing less telling that sort of thing. The characters feel like cardboard cutouts to me.

Okay

This book is somewhat reminiscent of Adam Horne's second installment of his series Genesis Online in that this story discusses building a settlement to survive. I think this book does that scenario better than the author mentioned above, so much so that I believe the listener will feel more invested in this book. My only objection to this book is that the narration is flat. However, I still think it's worth the credit.
