Publisher's summary

After her adventures with the League of the Healing Hand, Finn the Cat finds her life at Castle Rurach boring. Snowbound for the winter and faced with the prospect of being molded into “Lady Fionnghal” by her mother, she pines to be on the battlefront with her father against the sea demons.

But Finn’s talents are needed elsewhere. Summoned by the Righ, Lachlan the Winged, she must embark on a perilous journey into the Forbidden Land. Imprisoned in the Black Tower is a rebellious prophet whose beliefs have made him an enemy among his own people.

Now Finn must help rescue the one whose words can free a land enshrouded in darkness.

Amazing

As much as I missed a few characters, this book still has been my favorite in the series so far.

loved it!

So far, this one in the series was my favorite. Finn is the best and I hope she stays as wild as she damn well pleases. I also really enjoyed the bits of singing. Beautiful voice and it made me smile each time.

Loved the story

Yes, it’s a different story about Fynn. But is great, and brings together so much of the backstory.

In this story one of the things that make impression on me was the narrator. She did marvelous job of it. Story is catching, can't wait to see what comes next.

Best of the series!

I absolutely enjoyed this read! The characters are well fashioned and have a depth to them that is rare. The narrator not only brings the characters to life, she also manages to build their world around the listener so as to create the feeling that you're actually in the space with them. On top of it all, she is an impressive singer with a lovely voice. Well done!

So better than expected.

I didn’t really want a story about Finn as i prefer the Twins, but it was a wonderful conclusion for many of the retinue who gave so much. The narration as always was beautiful and clear with such a range of voices from one person. I am ready for the next story.

Nice diversion that keeps the story moving

This was a fun diversion allowing some of the minor characters of previous books to take center stage as the overall plot moved forward. I did miss hearing from some of the more central characters, but not so much that it detracted from enjoying the story. I would have given it 5 stars except that this book, like the previous couple, gets bogged down in places by battles and armed conflict. Not that it’s badly written—I’m just not interested in it. The narration was excellent, as in the whole series thus far.
