Jael Furyck isn’t happy. Her father is dead. Her uncle has stolen the throne.

And now, her uncle wants to marry her off to the fallen son of her arch-enemy. But Jael is a battle-hardened warrior, trained to kill since she was 10-years-old. She doesn’t plan on being anyone’s wife.

Eadmund Skalleson is drunk. His father is threatening him with a wife again. And this time he’s given him an ultimatum. Marry Jael Furyck or your brother returns from exile. But if Eadmund was ever going to choose a wife, it wouldn’t be Jael Furyck. Not her. Not ever.

Winter’s Fury is the first book in The Furyck Saga, a gripping epic-fantasy series that takes you into a richly woven world of warring kingdoms, mysterious dreamers, dark magic, and an ancient prophecy that emerges from the shadows to weave a dangerous web around them all....

Good story line, felt unique and not forced. The best best part is narrator Finty Williams. She truly does perform instead of just reading. And it's great news that she narrates all of the books in the series and they've got like 100 hours in the saga.

Good story. Great narrator.

I am still unsure if I enjoyed this book. I thought the narrator was fantastic, however, this book felt hard to follow as several names were similar and keeping up with who was being talked about was challenging. The book also felt a lot longer than it needed to, repeating the same problems/issues that felt like a “…” could have shortened this book by about 4 hours and you wouldn’t have lost any of the story. Maybe my problem is there was too much world building, and I only feel a little connected to a couple characters out of the dozen -ish the book talks about. I’ll try book 2 and hope it moves a bit faster. The author is fantastic, I just prefer a faster pace.

Loved the narrator

Action, angst, love, vindication, satisfaction, and heart-pumping drama - this story has it all!
Superb narration as well. Very happy to continue the story.

It was a slow start, but once it started I couldn’t stop listening. I have a 45min commute to work and I couldn’t wait to hear what Jeal did next.

Enjoyed getting to know these characters and excited for the rest of the series. Was a little hard to follow at times as the story does jump around a bit too much for my liking multiple times within each chapter.

Really Enjoy!

This was a very good story. However, the book was far longer than it had to be - unnecessarily repetitive in some instances. I think had I been reading instead of listening, I would have given up halfway through.

The narrator was quite good, except for her annoying habit of adding 'r' to the end of some words, eg., "saw-r".

Decent

I found this book by happenstance, what a hidden gem. This was some great storytelling and the narrator did a fantastic job. It has plenty of action without being to battle heavy. The fantasy/magic element is subtle but I'm thrilled to learn more about this world and it's characters. (some lovable and some hateable)

Fantastic start to a promising series!
