Publisher's Summary

Things are spicing up in Pickax: huge inheritances from old families are suddenly and mysteriously pouring in to town, but nobody is quite sure why. Except Koko, that is - and he's not telling. Then things get really interesting when one resident drops dead from an apparent bee sting. Can Qwill and his cats get to the bottom of things?

Disappointing drivel!

It is official....Lillian Jackson Braun has run out of ideas! That is the only reasonable conclusion to which I can come having just finished the Audible version of this "story". Disjointed and with no real point to the tale, this book is a complete disappointment. I have quite enjoyed her earlier "Cat Who" books but this is utter rubbish. There are a couple of incidents in the story which may be crimes but nothing ever develops with these. Save your money & don't bother with this one. Braun's earlier works are much better.

Cheated by abridging forces

Not normally buying an abridged version of a book, I was tempted by this one as there were no more in the series to listen to. What a disappointment!
The mysteries were never developed or solved. The whole listen was about Quilleran and the cats, fair enough, but left so many loose ends?!
Is this because of poor abridgement (is that a word??) or, knowing this was Lillian’s last published book…perhaps it lay unfinished like her final one?? Either way, the facts to be stated in the blurb!
The pleasure in listening to the final word was all in George Guidal’s reading. As always, brilliant! Thanks, George

Oh Dear

The author has obviously tired of the series or run out of ideas and she's taken out her frustrations in this very short book.

Absolutely love these gentle reads.

I really enjoy these books and wish more had been recorded. Please please get on to it and it must be the same narrator who is perfect for the job.

What happened next!

Would you listen to The Cat Who Had 60 Whiskers again? Why?

I have listened or read most of the stories in this series and this was the last published before the author sadly died.

What about George Guidall’s performance did you like?

I love GG's voice. It's soothing.

Any additional comments?

The author seems to have decided to mix things up with the characters that appear in most of the stories. But as she died, we are left wondering what she had planned. Frustrating!

Beautifully read but the story is a bit disjointed

Qwill and Polly appear to be moving on and the usual far fetched small town happenings in this, less than her best The Cat Who. A disappointment.
