Publisher's Summary

The native people of the Copper Isles, the raka, know that the ancient prophecy handed down by their trickster god is on the brink of coming to pass. But what they don't know is that all their hopes rest on the slender shoulders of Aly Homewood, formerly Alianne of Pirate's Swoop.

From daughter of the powerful to slave in a foreign land, Aly is also a pivotal leader in the underground movement to put a new queen on the throne. Witty, intelligent, and a talented spy, Aly is used to staying two steps ahead of the action. But with new adversaries, and a faltering romance, Aly is blind to the threat that lurks right under her nose. What will happen if the queen-to-be is lost?

In this dramatic sequel to Trickster's Choice, Tamora Pierce examines the powers of loyalty, family, and friendship in the face of adversity. And in doing so, she gives us the stories of three unforgettable young women discovering who they are and who they want to become.

Find out how Aly first became a spy in Trickster's Choice.

Critic Reviews

"Pierce deftly weaves an unforgettable story....The plot sweeps readers along in a whirlwind of court intrigue, deception, murder, and romance. The humor is wicked, and the plot twists will keep the pages turning to the supremely satisfying end." (School Library Journal)

entrancing!

All of T. Pierce's books are marvelous! I've read all of her Trickter books, Alanna books, and Immortals books. I can't say which one is the best! Every series and book is connected to every other boom she has written, from Alanna's First Adventure to Trickster's Queen. If you don't res them all,, you won't understand themm entirely. It's like onw huge novel on fictional history! I love reading something connected to the other books, it's like finding the crucial puzzle piece after you had long put together the rest of the puzzle. They are all incredible, and a must read or listen! I hope there will be more novels by Pierce, because I feel that the story isn't finished yet. I need to find the other books from the Terrier.

Trickster's Treat bk2

Any additional comments?

Trickster's Choice & Trickster's Queen are at the 5star multi listen pinnacle of Tamora Pierce's EXCELLENT writing! These YA books are adult worthy audio that my daughter & I have been re-listening to for more than a decade. We finally got the audible files so she has them @ college too. Almost everything thing Tamora writes is solid 5 stars and her audio versions are reliably good. These two books [not too immature, too mature or too dark, w/ humor, drama, & love] are perennial favorites.

Great book!

This is another great book by Pierce, it is not only an engrossing listen/read, but causes the reader to think about the issues of equality and power, while enjoying the book. This one gives an end to the set that readers enjoy, yet allows us to look forward to seeing the characters in other books.

worth the wait

I am a Tamora Pierce fan, and have been waiting for this book for about a year now. it is about the dauter of Allana of Trebond/Pirates Swoop, the main character of the Lioness quartet. as you may have guessed, this book was worth the wait, and is a great edition to the many other books by this phenominal author.

Whiney teens! Yikes!

Holy cow! I don't think I've heard this much whining and this many temper tantrums in my entire life.

I like Tamara pierce's novels but this one set my teeth on edge. I'm halfway through the book and I'm skipping to the epilogue if there is one.

I agree with the other reviewer about relationships in this book. The crow man deciding to not kiss her any more until she is willing to have sex with him is not the positive message about sex that we should be sharing with our children. Don't forget the target audience is young girls. I think 5th grade and above. The whole justification for sex is blackmail. Do this or else I won't kiss you...ugh! Then we have the decision being made under pressure (we gotta do it now because well...we might die). She's 17! Seriously!

I just LOVE this author. I just can't get enough.

Tamora Peirce is one of my favorite Authors. She ranks right up there with J.R.R. Tolkien. The way she captivates me and transports me to the realm of Tortall no matter how many times I've read or re-read the book is amazing. I own all of her books, and if you saw them, you would see how well loved and cherished they are. When she stops writing about Tortall and it's wonders will be a very sad day indeed.

Well-executed

This follow-up story is great, and the narration was done well. Only thing is she changed up the pronunciation of some of the names from the first book to the second. Mildly annoying, but that's just a pet peeve of mine. The story is great otherwise. I love Tamora Pierce books, even into my late 20s.
