Publisher's Summary

Rowan and Citra take opposite stances on the morality of the Scythedom, putting them at odds, in the chilling sequel to the Printz Honor Book Scythe from New York Times best seller Neal Shusterman, author of the Unwind dystology.

The Thunderhead cannot interfere in the affairs of the Scythedom. All it can do is observe — it does not like what it sees.

A year has passed since Rowan had gone off grid. Since then, he has become an urban legend, a vigilante snuffing out corrupt scythes in a trial by fire. His story is told in whispers across the continent.

As Scythe Anastasia, Citra gleans with compassion and openly challenges the ideals of the "new order". But when her life is threatened and her methods questioned, it becomes clear that not everyone is open to the change.

Will the Thunderhead intervene?

Or will it simply watch as this perfect world begins to unravel?

What a roller coaster!!!

Like any book, there are good and bad moments. Times when it’s impossible to put this book down, and times when you’re anticipating the next whirlwind. I have read hundreds or fantasy books and this one has such a great ending, my jaw dropped. Well done Mr. Shusterman.

I love everything

This is one of the most enjoyable pieces of fiction I have ever encountered in my entire life. The plot keeps surprising me, going to places I would have never dreamed of. I’m am internally screaming about the last few chapters, and I’m already longing for the rest of the story!

A wonderful mid-series pivot.

I demoted the story to 4 stars only because they made a vital character (SL) temporarily stupid to move the plot along. Once I got over that 3 sentence disappointment, it went back to being epically enjoyable. Can’t wait for book 3.

An amazing sequel

If you enjoyed part 1, then this book will surely entertain. Very interesting sequel, that closes few doors, & opens up plenty. Absolutely thrilled to find out what's next.

Better than the first book

There has to be another book coming. So many loose ends! But differently from other cliffhangers, i felt this sequel was really well put together. Looking forward to the next book!

Wonderful. Just so good.

I would listen to Greg Tremblay read the phone book. Shusterman has created in the Arc of a Scythe series an entire universe; captivating and so different from our own. Looking forward to the next book. Don’t make us wait too long.

I Love This Series

I love this series even though it’s kinda dark.

The book starts where the last book ended. This book is more about the political environment of the Scythes. It involves assassination attempts and the replacement of the Grandslayers and High Blade.

The book obviously ends with the possibility of a third book.

I’m impatiently waiting!

Not as good as the first one

The 1st book in the Scythe arc was SO GOOD that I was disappointed that the 2nd one wasn't as good. There was far too much focus on a new character Greyson and less on the main characters of the 1st book (Citra, Rowan, Faraday). I just hate that the villain *SPOILER ALERT* was revived with Tyger's body (RIP partyboy). I just can't take Goddard seriously with him sounding so much like the partyboy. The narrator did a fabulous job though. The ending left a lot to be desired but hopefully the third book will tie up the loose ends.
